One-step formation of nanostructures on silicon surfaces using pure hydrogen-radical-initiated reactions

One-step formation of silicon nanowires, sheets, and texture surface on a silicon substrate has been achieved using hydrogen-radical etching reactions. Metallic tungsten and for comparison purposes a tungsten hot wire, were used as catalysts for the hydrogen-molecular cracking. It was shown that a variety of surface structures on silicon such as inverted pyramid texture, V-groove texture, dense silicon nanowire growth over texture, and nanosheet structure can be obtained by controlling the process conditions. The most enhanced microwave systems for the preparation of quality-dehydrated fruits continuously adjust the power level in order to maintain the product temperature above a target value. As a result, typical drying curves that exhibit high drying rates in the middle stage are obtained. This can often lead to quality damage or undesirable changes on food colour and texture. Effect of Soil Moisture on the Angular Variation of Thermal Infrared Emissivity of Inorganic Soils

Emissivity is influenced by different factors. This study deals with the effect of the soil moisture (SM) content on the zenithal (θ) variation of ratio-to-nadir emissivity (εr), for a wide variety of inorganic bare soils. To retrieve εr, a goniometer assembly was used, together with two identical CIMEL Electronique CE312-2 radiometers working at six spectral bands within 7.7-14.3 μm, performing simultaneous radiance measurements at different combinations of zenith and azimuth angles. The results showed that the effect of SM upon εr(θ) is different depending on the spectral range and textural composition of the sample. Kinetic Parameters for Thermal Degradation of Green Asparagus Texture by Unsteady-state Method

An unsteady-state method was developed for estimating texture degradation during heating-cooling of green asparagus spears. The method used a mathematical model of heat transmission for time-temperature history estimation, and a nonlinear regression of texture measurements of asparagus spears to estimate kinetic parameters. The specific heat, conductivity and convective coefficient of green asparagus were determined experimentally and used In the mathematical model for temperature estimation. Abstract This work reports the deposition and characterization of piezoelectric ZnO thin films on semi-insulating GaAs substrates for the fabrication of bulk acoustic waves sensors. ZnO films are deposited at 350 °C and low deposition rate using reactive radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The use of a Pt bottom electrode, between ZnO and GaAs, with and without Ti buffer layer, as well as the effect of the substrate crystallographic orientation are investigated. This chapter focusses on the development of a new image processing technique for the processing of large and complex images, especially SAR images. We propose here a new and effective approach that outperforms the existing methods for the calculation of high order textural parameters. With a single processor, this approach is about \(256^{n-1}\) times faster than the co-occurrence matrix approach considered as classical, where \(n\) is the order of the textural parameter for a 256-gray scales image. Substrate topography in the micrometer range is reviewed as a modifier of the response of cultured cells and of biocompatibility when implanted into tissues. Characterization methods for substrate topography are discussed, including scanning electron microscopy, profilometry, laser scanning, and confocal microscopy. Because of the current technical limitations in reproducing micron-level topographic details, only one method, ion-beam etching, has been found suitable for texturing substrates on nonplanar surfaces.
