Religion as one of the forms of social consciousness is the object of interest of various sciences, among which linguistics can be named. Theology, geography and ecology of religion, history and philosophy of religion, psychology of religion, the directions in which these studies are conducted are quite diverse: the language of theological texts, the problem of translation, stylistics, lexicology, lexicography, semantics, language communication and many others. In this article we are talking about the section of linguistics – theolinguistics.

The paper deals with the problems of lexicographic description of Russian and Polish theolinguistic terminology. We describe theolinguistics as one of the subdisciplines of linguistics, which main focus is on the reflection of religion in language. We present the most important achievements in the given field at the turn of the 20th and 21st cc., specify the relevant theoretical and applied aspects of contemporary theolinguistic studies. This article is devoted to the functional and semantic description of the Russian and Polish terminology of theolinguistics. Russian and Polish lexicographic sources were used to analyze the interpretation of words that a priori can perform the function of theolinguistic terms; the features of their functioning in Russian- and Polish-language theolinguistic texts were studied; the selection and seminal analysis of Russian and Polish terms included in the conceptual and terminological field “theolinguistics” was carried out.

This article is an attempt at a theolinguistic description of such concepts as manipulation, persuasia, and religious language. The author focuses primarily on the theoretical aspect of the stated problem. In the first part of the work, such concepts as manipulation, persuasia and speech influence are analyzed. Around the beginning of the twenty-first century, the study of eortonyms (names of religious holidays) became one of the actively developing areas not only of liturgics, but also of theolinguistics and onomastics. This allowed us to fill a niche in onomastic terminology. In addition, a new direction – comparative eortology began to be developed in Slavic theolinguistics. Theses on comparative Russian-Czech, Slovak-Russian and Russian-Bulgarian eortonyms have been defended date. At the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, the main threads of research in Slavic theolinguistics were emerged, one of which was the study of religious style. Linguists in Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine pay special attention to this issue. This article provides a brief overview of the given problem. These studies have both common points and differences. This is explained not only by the various confessions associated with specific languages, but also by the linguistic traditions that have developed in each of these countries.
