Vortex–antivortex unbinding in oxygen-deficient YBa2Cu3O7− films

Abstract In-plane zero-magnetic-field current–voltage ( I – V ) characteristics of oxygen-deficient YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7− δ films (7 −  δ  ∼6.5, 6.55, and 6.65) were thoroughly investigated. A good agreement with the quasi two-dimensional (2D) vortex–antivortex unbinding scenario was observed, similar to the behaviour of highly anisotropic Bi 2 Sr 2 CaCu 2 O 8+ δ films. The temperature variation of the I – V exponent allows the determination of the Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless transition temperature T KT at the superconducting Cu–O layer level, and the mean-field critical temperature T c0 . Long-term monitoring of the evolution of the artificial night sky brightness is a key tool for developing science-informed public policies and assessing the efficacy of light pollution mitigation measures. Detecting the underlying artificial brightness trend is a challenging task, since the typical night sky brightness signal shows a large variability with characteristic time scales ranging from seconds to years. The essay focuses on the speech “Perì Sophiston” (Concerning Sophists) attributed to Alcidamas a rhetorician who was pupil of Gorgias and thought in Athens between 410 and 365 BC. In this speech Alcidamas stresses the superiority of extempore (though prepared) speeches over written one. The speech is particularly interesting because it represents the specifically rhetorical point of view on the issue of the differences between written and spoken word. The panorama of the contemporary Italian reception of the Spanish poets of the 19th century through translations is not particularly satisfactory since it is necessary to wait for the following century to find the first monographic studies and editions of texts in translation although in anthological form. However as in the rest of Europe the corpus of periodicals of magazines offers a very profitable editorial channel for receiving foreign literary texts. This work focuses on the presence of Rosalía de Castro's work in the contemporary Italian press. At the same time attempts have been made to complete the study of the reception of the Galician poet in Italy collecting traces in other editorial products such as the book. The consequent analytical focus will correspond to the transnational study of some proto and meta texts individualized by their special interest.

The volume Tommaso Maria Napoli Utriusque Architecturae Brief Compendium 1688 Rome treaty on civil and military factories and preservation of the architecture of the Dominican friar Tommaso Maria Napoli wants to help increase our understanding of the principles that should underpin the realization of civil and military baroque and late baroque period as expressed in the short treatise written by the monk architect born in Palermo Tommaso Maria Napoli (1659-1725) and published in Rome at the end of the seventeenth century. This translation from the Latin of the treaty drawn up by experts (Fabio Zarbo e Pietro Zarbo) included is an interesting research drafted jointly with Giuseppe Tantillo status of some of the architecture without realizing or attributed to the architect Tommaso Maria Napoli. In fact some cards are attached to the volume on the substance and state of preservation of the cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Dubrovnik (Croatia) of the villas Valguarnera and Palagonia in Bagheria (near Palermo Italy) of the monument to the Immaculate and one of the towers of the church of San Domenico in Palermo (Italy). The volume is enriched by the presentation and afterword by Francesco Tomaselli that among other things starting from the definition of Restoration expressed by Tommaso Maria Napoli in his book presents a stimulating reflection on the meaning of Restoration. Intuition Pumps and the Proper Use of Thought Experiments

I begin with an explication of "thought experiment". I then clarify the role that intuitions play in thought experiments by addressing two important issues: (1) the informativeness of thought experiments and (2) the legitimacy of the method of thought experiments in philosophy and the natural sciences. I defend a naturalistic account of intuitions that provides a plausible explanation of the informativeness of thought experiments, which, in turn, allows thought experiments to be reconstructed as arguments. In the final chapter, the contemporary situation of parliamentary politics is discussed. The chances and limits of the parliamentary ideal type are situated to the current horizons of Western European politics. In this manuscript we propose optical lensless configuration for a remote non-contact measuring of mechanical contractions of vast number of cardiac myocytes. All the myocytes were taken from rats, and the measurements were done in an in vitro mode. The optical method is based on temporal analysis of secondary reflected speckle patterns generated in lensless microscope configuration.
