The study of books on physics published in the 18th century shows that the evolution since the 17th century is much more than just a furthering of the discoveries of Newton, as we often tend to present it these days. Descartes’s mechanistic physics, severely criticized by Newton, was to develop with help from many scientists, particularly from the Academy of Sciences in Paris. The discussions between Cartesians and Newtonians did not end in the 1740’s. Parler des modèles en histoire est une affaire délicate, car le mot recouvre des pratiques historiennes différentes depuis son apparition dans la discipline, après la dernière guerre mondiale. Pour une minorité d’historiens surtout spécialisés en histoire économique, il correspond à une vision nouvelle de la discipline qui tenterait d’intégrer certaines démarches mathématiques, en particulier aujourd’hui la théorie des jeux. Pour d’autres, en revanche, parler de modèles relèverait surtout d’une évolution du vocabulaire, sans impliquer de véritable mutation disciplinaire. À partir d’exemples caractéristiques issus d’un corpus de 2 115 structures passives tirées de la revue britannique The Lancet, j’ai réalisé une classification originale de ces diathèses passives en trois grandes catégories, à savoir la détermination passive simple, la détermination passive complexe et la détermination passive tronquée. Après avoir précisé en quoi ces opérations de détermination correspondaient à une stratégie énonciative particulière — qu’elle soit réfléchie ou spontanée — mise en œuvre par les médecins, j’ai analysé quelques formes extrêmes, ou déterminations particulières, notamment celles présentées sous la forme d’adjectifs composés. This paper analyses the relations between thematization of the territory and symbolic elaboration of identity in Carme Riera’s narrative: in two inicial short story collections, Te deix, amor, la mar com a penyora and Jo pos per testimoni les gavines,and in two novels: Dins el darrer blau and La meitat de l’ànima. The aim of the research is to show that, according to the works, the identity value of Mallorca arises either from a sentimental perspective, or in terms of moral or in terms of culturaltransmission, in literary key.
