Deviation of H− beam extraction simulation model

Negative hydrogen ion source extraction system development is dependent on accurate and fast simulation methods for modelling the behaviour of ion and electron beams. Traditionally this type of work has been done using ray-tracing extraction codes, such as IBSimu. The plasma extraction model in IBSimu has been observed to under-estimate the charge density near the plasma sheath, leading to incorrect prediction of the current at which the system produces the optimum emittance. It is suspected that this deviation results from the approximations made by the model, neglecting the magnetic field and collisional effects near the sheath region. Estrogen-based hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may be associated with deceleration of cellular aging. We investigated whether long-term HRT has effects on leukocyte (LTL) or mean and minimum skeletal muscle telomere length (SMTL) in a design that controls for genotype and childhood environment. Associations between telomeres, body composition, and physical performance were also examined. Eleven monozygotic twin pairs (age 57.6 ± 1.8 years) discordant for HRT were studied. Sourcing on the internet: Examining the relations among different phases of online inquiry

This study examined students’ engagement in sourcing throughout online inquiry, that is, when they specified the information need, formulated search queries, evaluated online texts, and composed a written product. Participants were 167 upper secondary school students. Students completed an online inquiry task in a restricted online environment that utilized authentic online texts. Students’ prior topic knowledge and reading fluency was measured and controlled for in the analysis. Tässä tutkielmassa käsittelen näkymänhallintatekniikoita 3D-grafiikkamoottoreissa. Näkymä muodostetaan monikulmiomalleista. Näkymänhallinta kuvaa algoritmit ja menetelmät, joiden tarkoituksena on valita kyseisen maailman kaikista monikulmioista ne, jotka pitää piirtää katsojan lokaation ja orientaation perusteella. Renderöitäessä satojatuhansia polygoneja käyttäen lukuisia efektejä käytettävä näkymänhallintatekniikka on tärkeässä asemassa. Tutkielmassa on tarkoitus esittää eri näkymänhallintatekniikoiden toteutuksia, osoittaa millaisille näkymille mikäkin menetelmä on paras ja verrata menetelmien suorituskykyä.
Reliability of upper-limb diaphyseal mineral and soft-tissue measurements using peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT)

Objectives: To quantify between-day reliability of upper-body diaphyseal measurements (radius, ulna, humerus) using peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography (pQCT). - Methods: Fourteen males (age: 25.8±2.3 years,) underwent repeat pQCT scans (one to two days apart) at mid-shaft ulna (60%), mid-shaft radius (60%) and mid-shaft humerus (50%) cross-sections of the non-dominant limb. Tutkielmassa tarkastellaan ensinnäkin niitä kulttuurin ja tietotekniikan puitteita, joiden viitekehyksessä tietokone harrastajat toimivat. AlphaGo ja Monte Carlo -puuhaku

Tässä tutkielmassa käsittelen Monte Carlo -puuhakualgoritmia sekä sen roolia hyvin menestyneessä AlphaGo-tekoälyssä. Tavoitteena oli muodostaa kokonaiskuva AlphaGo:n toiminnasta, painottuen etenkin Monte Carlo -puuhaun näkökulmaan. Tutkimuksen perusteella selvisi miten ohjelma hyödyntää omassa hakualgoritmissään kyseistä puuhakua, jota se parantaa hyödyntäen koneoppimista ja useita eri tarkoituksiin opetettuja neuroverkkoja. This article argues that playing World of Warcraft (WoW) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) have a number of similar features. We base our argument on findings from three studies. The first (Sylvén 2004/2010) is about CLIL and non-CLIL students at upper secondary level and aims to investigate what effect, if any, CLIL has on the incidental acquisition of vocabulary. The second (Sundqvist 2009) is about extramural English and aims to examine its potential impact on learners’ oral proficiency and vocabulary.
