Headspace Volatile Composition of the Flowers of Caralluma europaea N.E.Br. (Apocynaceae)
2009
The volatile constituents of the flowers of Caralluma (Apteranthes) europaea (Guss.) N.E. Br. (Apocynaceae - Asclepiadoideae) from Lampedusa Island were analyzed by headspace method. The analyses allowed the identification and quantification of 41 compounds. The main components were, among the monoterpenoids, terpinolene (23.3%), a-terpinene (19.1%) and linalool (18.4%), whereas, among the carbonylic compounds the major constituents were heptanal (2.0%), octanoic acid (2.4%) and hexanoic acid (1.7%). It is worth to mention the presence of a nitrogen containing compound, indole (0.8%) and of a sulphur containing compound, dimethylsulphide (t). The compounds found in the flowers of C. europea…
Septal complex of the telencephalon of lizards: III. Efferent connections and general discussion.
1998
The projections of the septum of the lizard Podarcis hispanica (Lacertidae) were studied by combining retrograde and anterograde neuroanatomical tracing. The results confirm the classification of septal nuclei into three main divisions. The nuclei composing the central septal division (anterior, lateral, medial, dorsolateral, and ventrolateral nuclei) displayed differential projections to the basal telencephalon, preoptic and anterior hypothalamus, lateral hypothalamic area, dorsal hypothalamus, mammillary complex, dorsomedial anterior thalamus, ventral tegmental area, interpeduncular nucleus, raphe nucleus, torus semicircularis pars laminaris, reptilian A8 nucleus/ substantia nigra and cen…
Ion-exchange fibers and drugs: a transient study.
2003
The objective of this study was to theoretically model and experimentally measure the kinetics and extent of drug release from different ion-exchange materials using an in-house-designed flow-cell. Ion-exchange fibers (staple fibers and fiber cloth) were compared with commercially available ion-exchange materials (resins and gels). The functional ion-exchange groups in all the materials were weak -COOH or strong -SO3H groups. The rate and extent of drug release from the fibers (staple fiber>fiber cloth) was much higher than that from the resin or the gel. An increase in the hydrophilicity of the model drugs resulted in markedly higher rates of drug release from the fibers (nadolol>metoprolo…
Colección Museográfica Luis García de Fuentes (Caudete de las Fuentes, Valencia)
2017
Breve historia de la Colección Museográfica de Caudete de las Fuentes desde su gestación hasta la actualidad. Se destaca ante todo su cercanía al yacimiento de donde proceden las piezas y algunos de sus materiales más emblemáticos. From its beginning until nowadays, the brief history of the Archaeological Collection of Caudete de las Fuentes is described in this paper. The collection is located near the site wherefrom the most important pieces come.
Kvantiļu starpība divu izlašu salīdzināšanai
2022
Wine analysis: Study and comparison of techniques developed for the study of volatile constituents
1986
A number of headspace techniques have been compared, using a standard solution containing 12 compounds and a wine sample, viz.: (1) purge and cold trap injection; (2) dynamic headspace combined with liquidliquid extraction; (3) static headspace with and without preconcentration; (4) direct liquid injection. The sensitivity, reproducibility and speed of analysis were determined. Considering the results obtained and dependent on the purpose of the experiments and the number of samples to be examined the appropriate technique can be selected. ?? 1980 Friedr. DO TRANSPORT COSTS HAVE A DIFFERENTIAL EFFECT ON TRADE AT THE SECTORAL LEVEL?
2008
This article aims to analyse the determinants of transport costs and to investigate their influence in international trade with a sample of disaggregate trade data. First, we estimate a transport-cost function using cross-section data on maritime and overland transport for four sectors: agro-industry, ceramic tiles, motor vehicle parts and accessories, and electrical and mechanical household appliances, obtained from interviews held with Spanish exporters and logistics operators in 2001. Second, we study the relationship between transport costs and trade and estimate the elasticity of trade with respect to transport costs for each sector. Important differences for high value- and low value-…
Majolica tiled spires in Sicily. Shape, structure and problems
2014
From the Classical era, the architecture of the Mediterranean were characterized by strong polychrome obtained with various decorative forms by elements of poor workmanship in the building smaller. This decorative forms were more ornate on the monumental architecture; among these the tiles are very present in the border regions. According to the architecture of the Islamic world and the local building culture, the tiles were reworked from surface decorations in brick and shingle, to less frequent three-dimensional elements that can be found in large numbers in the Sicilian area. The spires in majolica wedges, placed at the top of bell towers of urban centers Sicilian, represent striking arc…
Sperm kinematic subpopulations of the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus)
2021
There has been very limited use of computer assisted semen analysis (CASA) to evaluate reptile sperm. The aim of this study was to examine sperm kinematic variables in American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) semen samples and to assess whether sperm subpopulations could be characterized. Eight ejaculates (two ejaculates/male) from four sexually mature captive crocodiles were obtained. An ISAS®v1 CASA-Mot system, with an image acquisition rate of 50 Hz, and ISAS®D4C20 counting chambers were used for sperm analyses. The percentages of motile and progressively motile spermatozoa did not differ among animals (P > 0.05) but there was a significant animal effect with regards to kinematic variables…
