Radical Besinnung as a Method for Phenomenological Critique

The chapter discusses Husserl’s method of historical reflection, radical Besinnung, as defined and used in Formale und transzendentale Logik (1929). Whereas Formal and Transcendental Logic introduces and displays Husserl’s usage of Besinnung in the context of the exact sciences, the chapter seeks to develop it as a more general critical method with which to approach any rational goal-directed activity. Husserl defines Besinnung as a method that enables understanding agents and their actions by explicating agents’ typically implicit goals. Becoming agentic teachers : Experiences of the home group approach as a resource for supporting teacher students' agency

Abstract This study focuses on the experiences of first-year teacher students in a Finnish teacher education department regarding ways in which studying in stable “home groups” supported or restricted their agency. The findings of the interviews with 22 teacher students suggest that perception of home groups as emotionally safe and offering opportunities to break traditional authority relationship supported teacher students' agency, which was manifested in identity negotiations and active participation. Children as social actors negotiating their privacy in the digital commercial context

This study advances research on children’s negotiation of online commercial privacy by identifying an act of digital agency by children that may serve their current needs but can also impact children negatively. Secondly, it identifies certain factors children consider while evaluating the trustworthiness of apps and websites before disclosing information online. Eight focus group discussions with children (13–16 years) in Finland’s capital region are analysed using thematic analysis. Despite the emerging recognition of the pivotal role played by professional agency within work contexts, little is known about how agency is promoted and enacted in organised work-related learning settings. This chapter focuses on the work conference as an orchestrated agency-promoting learning arena. We understand professional agency as a necessary precondition of work-related learning, and we emphasise the potential of work conferences to activate and promote such agency. Tapaustutkimukseni tehtävänä on selvittää, kuinka toimijuudet muodostuvat ympäristönsuojelukamppailussa. Tutkimuksen keskiössä on toimijaverkkoteorian näkökulmasta tarkastella Hyvinkään Kurkisuon kohtalosta käytyä ympäristönsuojelukamppailua ja tutkia miten materiallisen toimijuus vaikuttaa tässä kokonaisuudessa. Toimijaverkoston hahmottelussa käytän apuvälineenä Kurkisuon ympäristövaikutusten arviointi -prosessin (YVA) analysoimista, jonka kautta hahmotan toimijat ja heidän välisiä sidoksiaan. Lisäksi tutkin, millaisia arvoja ja funktioita venäläisturistien repertuaarit saavat Levillä. Tutkin työssäni kahta venäläisperhettä, jotka viettivät talvilomaansa Levillä.
