Epiphysäre Dysplasie des Hüftgelenks, Diagnostik und Differentialdiagnostik mit der MRT

Sixteen hip joints of eight patients with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia were examined by clinical investigation, plain films and by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), using T1- and T2-weighted images and gradient echoes. MRI is useful in demonstrating the congruity of the joint, in the changes of the epiphyseal signal intensities and the epiphyseal line. Individual changes of the signal intensity patterns on T1- and T2-weighted scans are described. Although MRI exhibits a variety of patterns in different patients, a clearcut differentiation from Legg-Calve-Perthes' disease is possible.

Navigated percutaneous screw fixation of the pelvis with O-arm 2: two years' experience.

Aim To evaluate the case series of the patients operated with percutaneous fixation by the navigation system based on 3D fluo-roscopic images, to assess the precision of a surgical implant and functional outcome of patients. Methods A retrospective study of pelvic ring fractures in a 2-year period included those treated with the use of the O-Arm 2 in com-bination with the Stealth Station 8. Near-Haploidy in a Malignant Sacrococcygeal Teratoma

Cytogenetic analysis of a malignant sacrococcygeal teratoma in an adult patient revealed near-haploid (77%), near-diploid (19%), and polyploid (4%) cells. The near-haploid cells had a karyotype of 25,XX,der(5)t(5;7)(p15;p13),+7,der(9)t(6;9)(p21;q34),r(17)(p13q25) . In the near-diploid and polyploid cells identical copies of the structural chromosomal changes were found. Although some of the anomalies observed appear unique to this case, a common breakpoint in chromosome 6 was previously reported as specific in a subgroup of extragonadal germ cell tumors of adults.

Open fractures can affect petrophysical properties of their host rock masses, as well as fluid transport and storage, so characterization of them is important to both industrial and research scientists. Renaissance bronze objects from the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam) col- lection and lead ingots from ancient roman shipwrecks found near Sicily (Italy) were studied by means of neutron tomography. This was done with the aim to visualize and to measure the inner structures of the objects. In this way information about the manufacturing processes in the 16th century and the conservation status from the inside of the bronze sculptures was gained.
