Funkcje toposu Szatana we współczesnym polskim dyskursie religijnym

2016

In the contemporary Polish Catholic discourse one can notice increased presence of figure of Satan and Biblical topos of his fight with God. The figure appears not only in strictly religious texts but also in discussion on up to date phenomenon of social life, such as abortion, in-vitro fertilization, homosexual partnerships and others. The article is trying to answer the question about functions of this topos. The answer is being searched with usage of sociological findings on the role of language in religion and the role of religion in social life – both issues are discussed in the first chapter. The second chapter, based on fragments from catholic press, presents ways of language constru…

Järjettömät koloratuurit : hullun naisen representaatio V. Bellinin oopperassa I Puritani

2011

Tulkintaa syvennettii…

The underwater site of Las Amoladeras, Cabo de Palos (Cartagena). New archaeometric approaches

2020

The aim of this article is to reinterpret a well-known underwater archaeological site located at Las Amoladeras, in La Manga del Mar Menor, near Cabo de Palos. For this purpose, after a historiographical review, we have studied, contextualized and undertaken isotopic analyses of some of the most interesting material from this archaeological site, as well as a plomo monetiforme (coin-like lead token) of the same type as those recovered at Las Amoladeras and the ones that circulated in the Balearic Islands. The lead isotope analyses carried out on the afore-mentioned artefacts allow us to determine the source of the lead used in the first two objects as Cartagena-Mazarrón and the Sierra Moren…

Combination Treatment with Imatinib and Mitoxantrone/Etoposide Is a Suitable Preparative Regimen before Allogeneic Transplantation in Patients with M…

2005

Abstract In advanced BCR-ABL-positive leukemia, combination of chemotherapy with imatinib is expected to result in better reduction of leukemia cell load and may delay or offset clonal selection of resistant leukemia cells, thus improving the survival. We carried out a prospective phase I/II combination trial for patients (pts) with myeloid blast crisis of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). Pts were treated with imatinib+mitoxantrone/etoposide in four cohorts starting from mitoxantrone 10mg/m2/d and etoposide 100 mg/m2/d for 2 or 3 consecutive days and start of imatinib 600mg/d from day 15 (coh. 1 and 2) or from day 1 (coh. 3 and 4, respectively). After hematologic reconstitution following…

Granulocyte–Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor in the Therapy of Adults with De Novo Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia: An Update of a Double-Blind Rando…

1997

We investigated whether granulocytemacrophage colony-stimulating factor (GMCSF) given concomitantly with chemotherapy (CT) improves the outcome of adults with de novo acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) by increasing the efficacy of CT and reducing infections. CT included cytarabine (ara-C) daunorubicin, and etoposide (DAV) for induction and early consolidation therapy and one cycle with high-dose (patients aged ≤50 years) or intermediate-dose ara-C (patients aged >50 years) /daunorubicin for late consolidation therapy. Eighty patients were randomized after DAV 1 to receive either GM-CSF (Escherichia coli, 250 µg/m2 per day, s.c.) or placebo starting 48 h prior to DAV II and the subsequent co…

Allogeneic stem cell transplantation after conditioning with treosulfan, etoposide and cyclophosphamide for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemi…

2014

Abstract Total-body-irradiation (TBI) based preparative regimens are considered as standard conditioning therapy for allogeneic stem cell transplantation (AHSC) in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Within a multi-center prospective phase II study we have investigated the toxicity and efficacy of a non-TBI-based regimen consisting of treosulfan, etoposide, and cyclophosphamide in patients with ALL. Inclusion criteria were complete remission, non-eligibility for TBI or patient’s wish to avoid TBI. Between July 2007 and August 2010, 50 patients with a median age of 46.5 years were enrolled at ten German centers. 74% of the patients were in 1. CR and 26% 2. or higher CR.The cond…

A Multicenter Phase I/II Trial of the Combination of Imatinib Mesylate with Mitoxantrone/Etoposide and Cytarabine in Patients with CML in Myeloid Bla…

2004

Abstract The combination of imatinib with mitoxantrone, etoposide or cytarabine were shown to be additive to highly synergistic on BCR-ABL-positive leukemias in vitro by several investigators, including our group. Therefore, we initiated a phase I/II trial for patients with myeloid blast crisis of chronic myelogenous leukemia. Patients were treated in four cohorts starting from mitoxantrone 10 mg/m2/d and etoposide 100 mg/m2/d for 2 or 3 consecutive days and start of imatinib 600 mg/d from day 15 (cohorts #1 and #2) or from day 1 (cohorts #3 and #4). Cytarabine was given at a dose of 10 mg/m2/d s.c. as maintenance treatment. Seventeen patients were included in the study: 8 pts in cohort 1, …

Treatment of early childhood medulloblastoma by postoperative chemotherapy alone.

2005

The prognosis for young children with medulloblastoma is poor, and survivors are at high risk for cognitive deficits. We conducted a trial of the treatment of this brain tumor by intensive postoperative chemotherapy alone. After surgery, children received three cycles of intravenous chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide, vincristine, methotrexate, carboplatin, and etoposide) and intraventricular methotrexate. Treatment was terminated if a complete remission was achieved. Leukoencephalopathy and cognitive deficits were evaluated.Forty-three children were treated according to protocol. In children who had complete resection (17 patients), residual tumor (14), and macroscopic metastases (12), the five…

Azacitidine-Containing Induction Regimens Followed by Azacitidine Maintenance Therapy in High Risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia: First Results of the Rando…

2012

Abstract Abstract 412 Background: A large proportion of patients are currently not eligible for genotype-adapted strategies in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), in particular those lacking specific genetic aberrations such as PML-RARA, CBFB-MYH11, RUNX1-RUNX1T1, NPM1 or activating FLT3 mutations. This subgroup of patients accounts for about one-third of all AML patients and mainly includes the large group of AML with myelodysplasia-related changes, AML with recurrent cytogenetic abnormalities [inv(3) or t(3;3), t(9;11), t(v;11q23)] and cytogenetically normal AML (CN-AML) with wild-type NPM1 and FLT3. Prognosis in this subgroup of patients is generally poor. Azacitidine has been shown to be acti…

Rac1 protein signaling is required for DNA damage response stimulated by topoisomerase II poisons.

2012

To investigate the potency of the topoisomerase II (topo II) poisons doxorubicin and etoposide to stimulate the DNA damage response (DDR), S139 phosphorylation of histone H2AX (γH2AX) was analyzed using rat cardiomyoblast cells (H9c2). Etoposide caused a dose-dependent increase in the γH2AX level as shown by Western blotting. By contrast, the doxorubicin response was bell-shaped with high doses failing to increase H2AX phosphorylation. Identical results were obtained by immunohistochemical analysis of γH2AX focus formation, comet assay-based DNA strand break analysis, and measuring the formation of the topo II-DNA cleavable complex. At low dose, doxorubicin activated ataxia telangiectasia m…
