Artykuł podejmuje problem możliwego wchodzenia polskich emigrantów w społeczeństwo niemieckie w Düsseldorfie. Dziedzictwo etniczno-kulturowe może być elementem ułatwiającym lub osłabiającym to zjawisko. Przeprowadzone badania miały charakter diagnostyczny (N:150), a problem badawczy dotykał przebiegu procesu asymilacji społeczno-kulturowej polskich emigrantów w Düsseldorfie. This article attempts to address the specificities of the Silesia on the example of selected poems by contemporary female and male authors who feel connected to this corner in the center of Europe and searching for their own identity. W niniejszym artykule autor zamierza spojrzeć na tożsamość jako na zjawisko podlegające głębokiej ewolucji na przestrzeni lat. Odnosząc się do przytoczonej hipotezy „Śląska wymyślonego” spróbuje dokonać próby klarownego podziału pomiędzy tym co stanowi historyczny trzon tożsamości śląskiej, a tym co w XX wieku zostało wpisane w śląski kod kulturowy.

National Identity and the Problem of "Polish" and "Silesia" in the Work of Jan Goczoł
 The article presents the issues of Polishness and Silesianness in the national consciousness of Jan Goczoł, who is known as a poet with a great deal of authorship, prose writer, columnist, and also an Opolian Silesia cultural activist. The article describes the life path of the poet, his family background, and the crystallisation of national consciousness in his writing. The poetry of the defender of the native tradition is emotionally marked with Silesian motifs and refers to the culture of many generations of Silesians.

Sofya Kovalevskaya (1850-1891) was an extraordinary gifted woman who stood out significantly from the nineteenth century Russian women. A Russian, of Polish-German descent, Kovalevskaya was an outstanding mathematician and a professor at Stockholm University. Besides her scientific activities, Kovalevskaya was also a writer and publicist.
