Methods:Healthy infants, 0 to 14 days old, were randomized to an intact-protein, cow's milk-based infant formula (control, n=87) or the same formula with 1.0g/L 2fucosyllactose (2FL) and 0.5g/L lacto-N-neotetraose (LNnT) (test, n=88) from enrollment to 6 months; all infants received standard follow-up formula without HMOs from 6 to 12 months. The problem of learning unions of certain pattern languages from positive examples is considered. We restrict to the regular patterns, i.e., patterns where each variable symbol can appear only once, and to the substring patterns, which is a subclass of regular patterns of the type xαy, where x and y are variables and α is a string of constant symbols. We present an algorithm that, given a set of strings, finds a good collection of patterns covering this set. Identification of tasty compounds of cooked cured ham : physico-chemical and sensory approaches

Abstract Tasty compounds from meat have not been studied in depth. The aim of this work was to isolate, identify and quantify tasty compounds from cooked cured ham and to link them to the sensory evaluations of the fractions from which they are extracted. The extraction of the water-soluble fraction from ham was done by an hydraulic press. The crude extract was ultrafiltered and both gel filtration and nanofiltration allowed to obtain edible fractions. Some links between the physicochemical and sensory data have been found, in particular, the umami taste was related to the presence of IMP and monosodium glutamate. Objective Elevated insulin and inflammatory cytokine levels in obesity may chronically activate signaling pathways regulating cardiac growth and contractility. Our aim was to examine the effect of obesity on cardiac PI3K isoform and Akt activation during left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy and heart failure. Methods Wild-type mice were fed normal chow or high-fat diet (HFD) for 2, 4, or 6 months. A subset of mice was subjected to chronic myocardial ischemia (MI).
