Combining critical perspectivation and personal account, I hope to offer a retrospective on my experience with the thought of Antonio Candido and a contribution to what we could consider his legacy. First I talk about my translation of a selection of his essays to German for an anthology published in 2005, about the translator’s readings and reflections, which serve as a starting point for rethinking some fundamental issues of Candido’s thought, such as the critical task of teaching and studying literature, also the question of literature’s social (ir)relevance in our days, as analyzed in the famous essay “O direito a literatura” (“The right to literature”, 1988).

Abstract This article investigates the dynamics of contemporary Romanian, focusing on various linguistic structures typically used on social network sites, through which the specific content and interaction strategies are being deployed in virtual communities. Siempre han existido estereotipos que condicionan la manera en que los individuos ven y entienden la realidad. Estas construcciones imaginarias resultan fundamentales en el proceso de socialización y se adquieren en gran parte a través de lecturas de la infancia. El porcentaje de traducciones en relación con las publicaciones totales de TRALIJ en España se ha venido situando en torno al 40 %1 en los últimos años, lo que pone de manifiesto el peso de la traducción de este tipo de literatura a la hora de perpetuar o rechazar los modelos de masculinidad y feminidad a los que exponemos a los más pequeños.
