Piecewise planar underwater mosaicing

2015

A commonly ignored problem in planar mosaics, yet often present in practice, is the selection of a reference homography reprojection frame where to attach the successive image frames of the mosaic. A bad choice for the reference frame can lead to severe distortions in the mosaic and can degenerate in incorrect configurations after some sequential frame concatenations. This problem is accentuated in uncontrolled underwater acquisition setups as those provided by AUVs or ROVs due to both the noisy trajectory of the acquisition vehicle — with roll and pitch shakes — and to the non-flat nature of the seabed which tends to break the planarity assumption implicit in the mosaic construction. These…

Remarks on the first return integral

2007

Some pathological properties of the first-return integrals are explored. In particular it is proved that there exist Riemann improper integrable functions which are first-return recoverable almost everywhere, but not first-return integrable, with respect to each trajectory. It is also proved that the usual convergence theorems fail to be true for the first-return integrals.

Aerial Spectrum Surveying: Radio Map Estimation with Autonomous UAVs

2020

Radio maps are emerging as a popular means to endow next-generation wireless communications with situational awareness. In particular, radio maps are expected to play a central role in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications since they can be used to determine interference or channel gain at a spatial location where a UAV has not been before. Existing methods for radio map estimation utilize measurements collected by sensors whose locations cannot be controlled. In contrast, this paper proposes a scheme in which a UAV collects measurements along a trajectory. This trajectory is designed to obtain accurate estimates of the target radio map in a short time operation. The route planning a…

De l'égalité formelle aux usages réels : déterminants et effets du suivi des MOOC dans les trajectoires socio-professionnelles

2018

Education and vocational training are central institutions in today’s society. They play an important role in guaranteeing people’s social and professional integration. They are also considered strategic pillars of economic growth in “the knowledge society” (CE, 2000). However, despite their basis in democratic values and principles, there are still many inequalities in access and outcomes in both compulsory academic and vocational education. Moreover, because of the increasing flexibility and insecurity of work in the current labor market, a diploma is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for stable employment. In this context, the rise of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) raises qu…

Measure differential inclusions: existence results and minimum problems

2020

AbstractWe focus on a very general problem in the theory of dynamic systems, namely that of studying measure differential inclusions with varying measures. The multifunction on the right hand side has compact non-necessarily convex values in a real Euclidean space and satisfies bounded variation hypotheses with respect to the Pompeiu excess (and not to the Hausdorff-Pompeiu distance, as usually in literature). This is possible due to the use of interesting selection principles for excess bounded variation set-valued mappings. Conditions for the minimization of a generic functional with respect to a family of measures generated by equiregulated left-continuous, nondecreasing functions and to…

Meta-work and the analogous Jarzynski relation in ensembles of dynamical trajectories

2014

Recently there has been growing interest in extending the thermodynamic method from static configurations to dynamical trajectories. In this approach, ensembles of trajectories are treated in an analogous manner to ensembles of configurations in equilibrium statistical mechanics: generating functions of dynamical observables are interpreted as partition sums, and the statistical properties of trajectory ensembles are encoded in free-energy functions that can be obtained through large-deviation methods in a suitable large time limit. This establishes what one can call a 'thermodynamics of trajectories'. In this paper we go a step further, and make a first connection to fluctuation theorems b…

Numerical-Experimental Study Regarding the Single Point Incremental Forming Process

2021

The present paper proposes a numerical-experimental comparative study on the single point incremental forming process. A DC04 steel sheet with a thickness of 0.6 mm was used for both the numerical simulation using the finite element method and the experimental research. The type of trajectory used was a spiral trajectory and the finished part obtained was a truncated cone-shaped part. The analysis program used for simulation was Ls-Dyna. The simulations were performed in several variants: with a fixed mesh and with an adaptive mesh, using two different element formulations: 25 (Belytschko-Tsay formulation with thickness stretch) and -16 (fully integrated shell element modified for higher ac…

A sliding mode approach to robust stabilisation of Markovian jump linear time-delay systems with generally incomplete transition rates

2015

Abstract This paper is devoted to investigating the problem of robust sliding mode control for a class of uncertain Markovian jump linear time-delay systems with generally uncertain transition rates (GUTRs). In this GUTR model, each transition rate can be completely unknown or only its estimate value is known. By making use of linear matrix inequalities technique, sufficient conditions are presented to derive the linear switching surface and guarantee the stochastic stability of sliding mode dynamics. A sliding mode control law is developed to drive the state trajectory of the closed-loop system to the specified linear switching surface in a finite-time interval in spite of the existing unc…

Symbolic Reductionist Model for Program Comprehension

2007

This article presents the main features of a novel construction, symbolic analysis, for automatic source code processing. The method is superior to the known methods, because it uses a semiotic, interpretative approach. Its most important processes and characteristics are considered here. We describe symbolic information retrieval and the process of analysis in which it can be used in order to obtain pragmatic information. This, in turn, is useful in understanding a current Java program version when developing a new version.

Passive time-multiplexing super-resolved technique for axially moving targets

2013

In this paper we present a super-resolving approach for detecting an axially moving target that is based upon a time-multiplexing concept and that overcomes the diffraction limit set by the optics of an imaging camera by a priori knowledge of the high-resolution background in front of which the target is moving. As the movement trajectory is axial, the approach can be applied to targets that are approaching or moving away from the camera. By recording a set of low-resolution images at different target axial positions, the super-resolving algorithm weights each image by demultiplexing them using the high-resolution background image and provides a super-resolved image of the target. Theoretic…
