Global transcriptional profiling ofCandida albicans cwt1 null mutant

CaCwt1p is a Candida albicans putative transcriptional factor homologue to Rds2p in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The lack of this protein in S. cerevisiae leads to a pleiotropic resistance to drugs and defects in cell wall architecture that are also detectable in C. albicans. It is also known that CaCwt1p is mainly expressed in the stationary growth phase of this fungus. In order to elucidate the role of CWT1, transcriptome analysis of the mutant strain was performed in exponential and stationary growth phases. A Genomic, Transcriptomic and Proteomic Look at the GE2270 Producer Planobispora rosea, an Uncommon Actinomycete.

We report the genome sequence of Planobispora rosea ATCC 53733, a mycelium-forming soil-dweller belonging to one of the lesser studied genera of Actinobacteria and producing the thiopeptide GE2270. The P. rosea genome presents considerable convergence in gene organization and function with other members in the family Streptosporangiaceae, with a significant number (44%) of shared orthologs. Integrated quantitative proteomic and transcriptomic analysis of lung tumor and control tissue: a lung cancer showcase

Proteomics analysis of paired cancer and control tissue can be applied to investigate pathological processes in tumors. Advancements in data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry allow for highly reproducible quantitative analysis of complex proteomic patterns. Optimized sample preparation workflows enable integrative multi-omics studies from the same tissue specimens. Syphacia muris (Nematoda: Oxyuridae) is a ubiquitous nematode that commonly infects rats in the laboratory which can interfere in the development of biological assays. The somatic extract of S. muris adults collected from infected rats was investigated using a proteomic approach. A shot-gun liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry procedure was used. We used the MASCOT search engine (Matrix-Science) and ProteinPilot software v2.0 (Applied Biosystems) for the database search. A total of 359 proteins were accurately identified from the worms. Proteomics of Galápagos Marine Iguanas Links Function of Femoral Gland Proteins to the Immune System

Femoral glands secrete a wax-like substance on the inner side of lizard hind legs, which is thought to function as a mode of chemical communication. Though the minor volatile fraction is well studied, the major protein fraction remains enigmatic. Here, we use proteomics to analyze proteins in femoral gland secretions of the Galápagos marine iguana. Although we found no evidence for proteins and peptides involved in chemical communication, we found several immune-regulatory proteins which also demonstrate anti-microbial functions.
