Conformational Analysis of beta-Lactam-Containing Ferrocene Peptides

2009

The homochiral 3-amino-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-4-phenyl-beta-lactam (≡ Alm) was conjugated with Boc-Ala giving Ala-Alm (9) after Boc-deprotection (Boc = tert-butoxycarbonyl, Ala = alanine). Coupling of FcCOOH (1) and Boc-Fca (10) with “ dipeptide” 9 resulted in the formation of FcCO-Ala-Alm (12) and the trisamide Boc-Fca-Ala-Alm (13), respectively (Fc = ferrocenyl, Fca = 1’ -aminoferrocene-1-carboxylic acid). The reactions were accomplished by the HOBt/EDC procedure and the products were obtained in good yields (HOBt = 1-hydroxybenzotriazole, EDC = N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N’ -ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride). Symmetrically 1, 1’ -disubstituted “ tetrapeptide” Fn(CO-Ala-Alm)2 (14) was prepared…

Trapping Molecular SnBr 2 (OH) 2 by Tin Alkoxide Coordination: Syntheses and Molecular Structures of [MeN(CH 2 CMe 2 O) 2 SnBr 2 ] 2 ·SnBr 2 (OH) 2 a…

2012

The synthesis of the intramolecularly coordinated stannylenes and their transition-metal complexes of the type RN(CH2CMe2O)2SnL [1: L = lone pair, R = Me; 2: L = lone pair, R = n-octyl; 5: L =W(CO)5, R = Me; 6: L = Cr(CO)5, R = Me; 7: L =W(CO)5, R = n-octyl; 8: L = Fe(CO)4, R = Me], and of the tin(IV) compounds RN(CH2CMe2O)2SnBr2 (9: R = Me), [MeN(CH2CMe2O)2SnBr2]2·SnBr2(OH)2 (10) and spiro-[RN(CH2CMe2O)2]2Sn (3: R = Me; 4: R = n-octyl) is reported. The compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, 1H, 13C, 119Sn, and 119Sn magic-angle spinning (5, 6) NMR spectroscopy, electrospray mass spectrometry, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Analysis of insecticides in honey by liquid chromatography–ion trap-mass spectrometry: Comparison of different extraction procedures

2010

The feasibility of different extraction procedures was tested and compared for the determination of 12 organophosphorus and carbamates insecticides in honey samples. In this sense, once the samples were pre-treated - essentially dissolved in hot water by stirring - and before they could be analyzed by liquid chromatography-ion trap-second stage mass spectrometry (LC-MS(2)), four different approaches were studied for the extraction step: QuEChERS, solid-phase extraction (SPE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME). The main aim of this work was to maximise the sensitivity of pesticides and to minimise the presence of interfering compounds in the extract. …

Fragmentations and reactions of the organophosphate insecticide Diazinon and its oxygen analog Diazoxon studied by electrospray ionization ion trap m…

2005

The fragmentations and reactions of Diazinon and related compounds have been studied by electrospray ionization ion trap mass spectrometry. Several novel fragmentation and rearrangements have been observed, including an intramolecular thiono-thiolo rearrangement. The stability, in the gas-phase, of the protomers of 2-isopropyl-4-methyl-6-pyrimidinol has been demonstrated. The complexity of the gas phase ion processes observed suggest that, at present, caution Should be exercised in using this approach for the analysis of environmental and other samples until our understanding of these processes increases considerably. Insect pests of the Herbarium of the Palermo botanical garden and evaluation of semiochemicals for the control of the key pest Lasioderma serricorne …

2020

Abstract The herbaria are scientific tools of great importance that preserve extinct, rare, endemic, and common plant species and also have importance as Cultural Heritage for their historical and esthetical value. Herbaria can be infested by several insect pests feeding on dried plants, and their management is often complicated and difficult as the use of chemical insecticides can have negative drawbacks. This suggests a strong need for alternative control tools such as the use of semiochemicals to develop Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs. In order to identify the main insect pests that determine the damages on the exsiccata stored in the Palermo Botanical Garden's Herbarium, one …

Application of an HPLC-MS/MS method for mycotoxin analysis in commercial baby foods

2012

Abstract This article describes the validation of an analytical method for the detection of 21 mycotoxins in baby food. The analytical method is based on the simultaneous extraction of selected mycotoxins by matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) followed by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) using a hybrid triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometer (QTRAP®). Information Dependent Acquisition (IDA), an extra confirmation tool for samples that contain the selected mycotoxins, was used. The matrix effects were evaluated, and the corrections for the matrix effects were performed using two calibration approaches: external matrix-matched calibration and…

Students' perceptions on intrapreneurship education – prerequisites for learning organisations

2010

The aim of this qualitative study is to understand the prerequisites for learning organisations (LO) as perceived by university students. Intrapreneurship education offers possibilities to increase student's adaptation of learning organisation's climate and behaviour. By analysing students' perceptions, more information about learning organisation creation was achieved. Content analysis was used to interpret the results. In total, 310 first year university master's degree students in Finland answered a series open-ended questions. The results show that for intrapreneurship education to result in an increase in learning organisations it should be based on individual motivation and the self-m…
