Myostatin/activin blocking combined with exercise reconditions skeletal muscle expression profile of mdx mice

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is characterized by muscle wasting and decreased aerobic metabolism. Exercise and blocking of myostatin/activin signaling may independently or combined counteract muscle wasting and dystrophies. The effects of myostatin/activin blocking using soluble activin receptor-Fc (sActRIIB-Fc) administration and wheel running were tested alone or in combination for seven weeks in dystrophic mdx mice. Expression microarray analysis revealed decreased aerobic metabolism in the gastrocnemius muscle of mdx mice compared to healthy mice. Phylogenetic diversity and affiliation of tropical African ectomycorrhizal fungi

Ectomycorrhizal fungi form a mutualistic symbiosis with plant roots, and are key for nutrient cycling in many ecosystems. Here we study the ectomycorrhizal fungal communities in the Oueme Superieur reserve forest in Benin (West Africa). We use phylogenetic methods to test if the species from the study site are closer to other tropical African species than to species from other regions. The Oueme Superieur community was represented by nine Operational Taxonomic Units in Amanitaceae, one in Boletaceae, one in Cantharellaceae, one in Cortinariaceae, two in Inocybaceae, fourteen in Russulaceae and three in Sclerodermataceae. Przeciwdziałanie depopulacji Opolszczyzny

W województwie opolskim od dawna obserwuje się niekorzystną sytuację demograficzną. Niskie wskaźniki dzietności oraz ujemne saldo migracji sprawiają, że Opolszczyzna harakteryzuje się jednym z najwyższych w kraju wskaźników depopulacji. Dostrzegając związane z tym zagrożenia samorządy województwa postanowiły wpłynąć na ich ograniczenie. Najwyższa Izba Kontroli zbadała1 działania podejmowane w Urzędzie Marszałkowskim Województwa Opolskiego, Urzędzie Miasta Opola oraz Urzędzie Miejskim w Nysie. Z ustaleń wynika, że możliwiły one poprawę warunków życia mieszkańców, jednak jak dotąd nie doprowadziły do odwrócenia negatywnych trendów demograficznych.

Darbā implementēti vadlīnijās aprakstīti vienkāršojumi, lai izveidotu ātri aprēķināmus galīgo elementu modeļus. Uz ~2 miljonu galīgo elementu modeļu aprēķinu bāzes ir trenēti neironu tīklu “surogāta modeļi”. Iegūta >98% precizitāte, izmantojot Google piedāvātu automatizētu mašīnmācīšanās risinājumu. The document proposes a methodological device and some theoretical approaches to build a sociology of clinical practices in the "poles" (basic territorial units) of adult public psychiatry in France, based on a qualitative and quantitative exploratory survey in seven sites. It shows that the territorial offer of care presents aspects of homogenization throughout France: a decline of psychotherapies in favour of a myriad of "psychic interventions", the generalized development of eclecticism and pragmatism. In research on learner language complexity, accuracy and fluency (CAF), syntactic complexity is often studied with quantitative measures based on words, clauses, sentences, and T-units. The findings have been mixed, but segmenting learner language into these units of measure has seldom been problematised, even if the need for accurate coding is well known. The present study explores words, clauses, sentences, and T-units as production units in written learner language using a corpus of 352 L2 Finnish texts (28,813 words).
