”Mitä pitäisi kehittää ja miten?” : lukiolaisten kokemuksia arvioinnista ja sen menetelmistä englannin opinnoissa

Opiskelija-arvioinnilla on merkittävä asema kaikkialla koulumaailmassa, niin myös suomalaisessa lukiossa. Vaikutusvaltaisesta roolistaan huolimatta arviointia ja sen käytännön toteutusta lukiossa tai lukion kieltenopetuksessa on tutkittu niukasti. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli tutkia kyselylomakkeen avulla, kuinka lukiolaiset (146 lukiolaista yhdestä koulusta) itse kokivat arvioinnin osana englannin opintojaan, millaisia arviointimenetelmiä he olivat kohdanneet ja mitä niistä he pitivät hyödyllisinä. The power of assessment: What (dis)empowers students in their EFL assessment in a Finnish upper secondary school?

Assessment wields a great deal of power over students. Yet, there is little research on how students, either in general or as individuals, experience assessment. Therefore, this study aimed to explore what disempowers or empowers students in EFL assessment. A total of 146 students from one Finnish upper secondary school answered a questionnaire on assessment and feedback in their EFL studies. The study utilises mixed methods: primarily, the questionnaire data was analysed quantitatively (principal component analysis, step-wise regression analysis), secondarily, qualitative data and analysis were also used. The sycamore lace bug Corythucha ciliata (Say, 1832) has a North American origin and is one of the most abundant and widespread pests on plane trees (Platanus spp.) across the globe. It has been introduced to Europe, South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa during the last sixty years. In Poland, it has been recorded since 2009 in 28 localities distributed in four of its southern zoogeographical regions. The present paper describes the second record of this species in Upper Silesia.

Zjawisko korepetycji ma charakter globalny. W Polsce istnieje od dawna i w ostatnich latach znacznie przybrało na sile. Obecnie prywatne lekcje są postrzegane jako coś normalnego. Przedstawione w pracy wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych wśród maturzystów z Opola pokazują powszechność korepetycji oraz wskazują, jakim motywami kierują się uczniowie korzystający z takich zajęć.

Oppikirjojen merkitys suomalaisessa vieraiden kielten opetuksessa on kiistaton. Aloitettaessa uuden kielen opiskelu opeteltavaa on valtava määrä ja aikamuodot ovat yksi tärkeä opittava asia. Kun opitaan ilmaisemaan tapahtuman aika oikein, monilta väärinkäsityksiltä voidaan välttyä viestin välittämisessä. Todennäköisin lähde aikamuotojen muodostamisohjeille on kirja, jota koulussa käytetään ja siirryttäessä asteelta toiselle, on sillä merkitystä miten aikamuodot on kyseisessä kirjassa esitetty. Leisure trip through Upper Silesia is the text of a German author anonymously published in the „Schlesische Provinzial-Blätter” in 1805 (No. 41; German title – Lustreise durch Oberschlesien). Until now, it was perceived in the political dimension. It was believed that the text was to present glorious development of the region under Prussian rule and, therefore, it was interpreted as a justification for the benefits born out of conquest. The paper focuses on the ?unexpected pathways? of successful students with an immigrant background: these biographical routes, that seems socially impossible, raise theoretical issues around the individual-society, actor-structure relationship. Disadvantaged students who succeed represent a sociological challenge in the attempt to understand atypical situations and to identify the institutional processes and the structural opportunities that facilitate them, reducing ethnic inequalities in education.
