Flavones, sesquiterpene lactones and glycosides isolated from Centaurea aspera var. Stenophylla
1984
Abstract From the alcoholic extract of Centaurea aspera var. stenophylla benzoic acid, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, apigenin, 6-methoxyluteolin, 11,13-dehydromelitensin, melitensin, stenophyliolide, ethyl-7-O-apigenin-glucuronate and the glucosides of sitosterol and stigmasterol were isolated and characterized. Stenophyllolide was shown to be 9,15-dihydroxygermacra-1(10),4,11-trien-12,6-olide.
CeO2−x nanorods with intrinsic urease-like activity
2018
The large-scale production and ecotoxicity of urea make its removal from wastewater a health and environmental challenge. Whereas the industrial removal of urea relies on hydrolysis at elevated temperatures and high pressure, nature solves the urea disposal problem with the enzyme urease under ambient conditions. We show that CeO2−x nanorods (NRs) act as the first and efficient green urease mimic that catalyzes the hydrolysis of urea under ambient conditions with an activity (kcat = 9.58 × 101 s−1) about one order of magnitude lower than that of the native jack bean urease. The surface properties of CeO2−x NRs were probed by varying the Ce4+/Ce3+ ratio through La doping. Although La substit…
Untersuchungen zur Biosynthese eines Cytokinins in Calluszellen von Laubmoossporophyten
1973
When callus cells derived from the sporogon of the hybrid Funaria hygrometrica x Physcomitrium piriforme are supplied with adenine-8-14C, they produce a labelled cytokinin which has the same chromatographic behavior as N6-γγ-(dimethylallyl)aminopurine. The cytokinin is the first radioactive product that can be detected in the culture medium. It is formed as long as labelled adenine is available. When callus cells are grown in an optimum culture medium containing amino acids, about 10% of the radioactivity supplied as adenine is found in the cytokinin. When the cells are grown in a medium without amino acids, the RNA-content of the cells and the total yield of cytokinin decrease, but about 1…
Self-Assembled Polymers Based on bis-Tetra-Urea Calix[4]arenes Connected via the Wide Rim
2008
Six double calixarenes were synthesised in which two tetra-urea calix[4]arenes are linked by a rigid spacer between the urea functions at their wide rim. The dimerisation of their tetra-urea parts leads to hydrogen-bonded polymeric assemblies in apolar solvents. The addition of the stoichiometric amount of a tetra-tosylurea calix[4]arene disrupts the polymeric structures due to the preferred formation of heterodimeric capsules between tetra-aryl and tetra-tosylurea calix[4]arenes. The existence of polymeric assemblies was further established by AFM studies on spin-coated samples.
Entzündungshemmende wirkstoffe. XI. Ringschlußreaktion an 5-phenyl-2-thiobiuret
1988
The reaction of 5-phenyl-2-thiobiuret (1) with α-chlorocarbonyl compounds 2 leads to the structure type of N-phenyl-N1-(thiazolyl)urea (3). The new compounds exhibit particularly antiinflammatory, anthelminthic, and trichomonacidal activity.
Rearrangement of Germacranolides. Synthesis and Absolute Configuration of Elemane and Heliangolane Derivatives from Cnicin
2003
A study of the Cope rearrangement of 15-oxo-germacranolides to 15-oxo-elemanolides has been carried out. The synthesis of two natural elemanolides, isolated from Centaurea paui, and an efficent isomerization of the C-4/C-5 double bond of 15-oxo-germacranolides to form heliangolides are reported. The absolute configuration of all the compounds has been ascertained. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2003)
TAURINE SUPPLEMENTATION PREVENTS HYPERAMINOACIDEMIA IN GROWING TERM INFANTS FED HIGH PROTEIN COW'S MILK FORMULA. † 1891
1996
Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and plasma and urine amino acid concentrations were compared between three cohorts of healthy term infants who were breast-fed (BF) or randomly assigned to one of two formulas either taurine non-supplemented (FF) or taurine supplemented (FF+T). The formulas had a protein concentration of 2 g/dl (2.9 g/100 kcal) and a whey/casein ratio of 20/80. The infants were studied from 2 to 12 weeks of age. Weight gain and growth in length was normal and similar in all three feeding groups during the study interval. At 12 weeks BUN was significantly higher in the FF group than in the BF and FF+T groups of infants, 16.5 mg/dl vs 7.0 and 7.3 mg/dl respectively. Total plasma amin…
Der Verteilungsraum von physikalisch gelöstem Sauerstoff in wäßrigen Lösungen organischer Substanzen / The Distribution Space of Physically Dissolved…
1976
Abstract In order to evaluate the distribution of molecular oxygen in biological systems, the oxygen solubility (ml/ml atm) at 37 °C in aqueous solutions of thirty organic substances with different concentrations was measured by the classical Van Slyke principle. The oxygen solubility always (with the exception of hemoglobin) decreases exponentially with increasing concentration of the respective substance. In all cases this behavior is described highly significant by a simple empiric exponential function, when the substance concentration as well as the oxygen solubility of pure water is given. The influence of one substance on oxygen solubility contributes additively to the over-all solubi…
ChemInform Abstract: Organocatalytic Enantioselective Synthesis of Pyrazoles Bearing a Quaternary Stereocenter.
2016
An efficient one-pot asymmetric synthesis of pyrazoles bearing a chiral quaternary stereocenter has been developed. Quinine-derived thiourea catalyzed the enantioselective addition of pyrazolones to isatin-derived ketimines, providing the corresponding acetylated pyrazoles after in situ treatment with Ac2 O/Et3 N. The corresponding pyrazoles were afforded in high yields and excellent enantioselectivities.
