Synthesis of substituted isoindolo[2,1-a]quinoxalin-6-yl–amino and 6-imino-5-yl thiourea derivatives

A series of substituted 1-(5-bromopyridin-2-yl)-3-[2-(isoindolo[2,1-a]quinoxalin-6- ylamino)ethyl]thiourea and 1-(5-bromopyridin-2-yl)-3-[2-(6-iminoisoindolo[2,1-a]quinoxalin- 5(6H)-yl)ethyl]thiourea derivatives were prepared in good yields (63-85%) by reaction between the corresponding amino compounds with 5-bromo-2-isothiocyanatopyridine. All thiourea derivatives, tested for inhibition of HIV-1 RT, showed no significant antiviral activity.

La antroponimia caballeresca ha sido asunto escasamente atendido por la crítica. Sí se han acometido estudios que se ocupaban, fundamentalmente, de la antroponimia pastoril, quijotesca y la propia del teatro áureo, entre otros, pero ningún trabajo de conjunto dedicado al ámbito caballeresco. El presente trabajo pretende ofrecer una imagen de la antroponimia de los libros de caballerías a la luz de la propia de otros géneros literarios de la Edad Media y el Siglo de Oro, con el fin de brindar una serie de similitudes y contrastes entre ellas.

Background: Na+/H+ exchanger-1 (NHE-1) is involved in pH regulation and is up-regulated in different malignancies. Activation of NHE-1 is one way for allowing cells to avoid intracellular acidification and protect them against apoptosis. Inhibitors of NHE-1 are able to decrease intracellular pH and induce apoptosis. Some statins can also act by partial inhibition of NHE-1. This review presents progress in understanding the mechanisms of action of these inhibitors, connections with certain genetic mutations and acquired treatment resistance, as well as new patents on them. One of the 2009 Lisbon Treaty's objectives was to enhance the coherence of EU-level foreign relations by improving collective action. Policy-level innovations included ‘comprehensive’ and ‘joined-up’ approaches linking EU instruments and actors, especially the Commission and the new European External Action Service. Have these reforms improved policy coherence? We focus on a key EU policy domain illustrating Europe's engagement with the changing global context: the security–development nexus. Abstract Traditional rural biotopes (TRBs) are threatened habitats that host significant biodiversity and several ecosystem services, and depend on active management such as low-intensity grazing. The current study explores private landowners’ decision-making on TRB management and abandonment within a social-ecological system framework. We provide insight into supporting resilience of TRB systems in the face of agricultural modernization. Standardised functional assessment in long-term care for older people: perspective of Finnish care workers

Objective measures and documentation are increasingly used in the care for older people to promote efficiency and productivity. A standardised assessment of functional capacity is one such measure. In this study, we examined the meanings given to standardised functional assessment by care workers who provide long-term care for older people.
