Virtual communities, research groups and projects on IMS Learning Design. State of the art, key factors and forthcoming challenges

We carry out a report showing the state of the art about virtual communities, research groups and projects focused on the e-learning specification IMS Learning Design or directly related to it. This specification is currently becoming the most flexible and supported de facto standard for modelling full learning processes, as a complement for any structure of educational contents. Afterwards, as a consequence of the previous study, we develop a reading and a further analysis of the current panorama, and describe the key factors that show the relevance and impact of IMS Learning Design and also the main forthcoming challenges.

Incapacità di acquisire nuovi ricordi difficoltà nel ricordare eventi osservati recentemente mancata identificazione delle cose dei luoghi e delle persone disorientamento visivo-spaziale sono questi e molti altri i disturbi con cui devono imparare a convivere coloro che sono colpiti da malattie neurologiche. In una società in continua evoluzione dove la diminuzione della natalità e l’innalzamento della soglia di mortalità divengono costanti il compito dell’Architettura è proprio quello d’interpretare le esigenze e i bisogni di persone che hanno perso il rapporto canonico con il mondo e offrire loro le possibilità di recuperarlo o di mantenerlo attraverso canali di comunicazione che sfruttino le loro residue capacità di comprensione. Lo spazio interno ed esterno assume così una “funzione protesica” contenendo ed esprimendo in sé le conoscenze necessarie per la sua corretta fruizione riducendo il senso di frustrazione attraverso la sensazione di sicurezza e di benessere che il malato deve percepire vivendolo. Testing Prospect Theory in a Deterministic Multiple Criteria Decision-Making Environment

Prospect theory by Kahneman and Tversky [7] is tested in a deterministic multiple criteria decision-making context. In two experiments conducted in classroom settings subjects made pairwise preference comparisons of condominiums for sale. The results of the experiments indicate that the traditional value model did not explain the subjects' revealed preferences as well as the prospect model. We conclude that prospect theory is a reasonable model of choice for many individuals in such a context.

Abstract: In 1999, the European Union proclaimed hardwood dust carcinogenic based on the classification of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) issued in 1995. The operational exposure limit (OEL) for inhalable wood dust has been set to 5 mg m-3 by EU directives, though in different countries the OEL ranges from 1 to 5 mg m-3. Di-n-butyltin(IV)-catalyzed dimethyl carbonate synthesis from carbon dioxide and methanol: An in situ high pressure 119Sn{1H} NMR spectroscopic study

The reactivity of five di-n-butyltin(IV) complexes, n-Bu2Sn(OR)(2) (1), n-Bu2SnO (3), [n-Bu2Sn(OR)](2)O (4), (n-Bu2SnO)(2)(CO2) (6) and (n-Bu2SnO)(6)[(n-Bu2SnOR)(2)(CO3)](2) (7) (R = CH3), with CO2, suggested as possible catalyst precursors and key-intermediates for the direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate from carbon dioxide and methanol, has been investigated using high-pressure Sn-119{H-1} NMR (HP-NMR) spectroscopy. Gender discrimination and intergenerational transmission of preferences

This paper provides an explanation for the existence of gender discrimination in the labour market focusing on the intergenerational transmission of preferences related to the attitude of women towards jobs and family. Changes in women's preferences over generations depend on the socialization efforts of their parents which in turn are influenced by both the firm's expected recruitment policy and the expected utility from household care. We obtain two types of steady state equilibria: the discriminatory equilibrium, in which women are segregated to low-paid jobs, and the non-discriminatory equilibrium, in which women are hired in highly-paid jobs.
