Effect of the host plant on the immunity of a phytophagous insect : influence of grape variety on the ability of the European grapevine moth to defen…
2013
In tritrophic interactions involving phytophagous insects, host plants and natural enemies, trophic levels are highly dependent on each other. Host plant may strongly affect directly phytophagous insect and indirectly natural enemies growing on these phytophagous insects. When a natural enemy attacks a phytophagous insect, the host immune system constitutes the last chance for the host to survive to an infection. A great variation of insect immune system is generally found in populations for susceptibility to pathogens, suggesting that variable selection pressures may have shaped and driven adaptation of immune traits. This project aims to determine the influence of both host plant and natu…

Preservation of vitamins content in Cuccìa using an innovative method of processing
2019
Cuccìa is a traditional Sicilian food prepared by boiling whole durum wheat kernels, in water, for many hours. This process destroys the vitamins E and B contents of crude kernels. It was rated a method to prepare the Cuccìa, preserving the vitamin content. Four varieties of durum wheat were processed comparing the traditional cooking method (TR-boiling for 5/6 hours), and an innovative one (IN-grains scarification, germination, and cooking at 50 °C for 2 hours). On soups obtained the content of biotin, niacin and α-amylase activity were determined. ANOVA showed the cooking method influences biotin and niacin content having values from 0.56 and 0.72 ng ml−1 (raw grain) and values close to 0…
(Re) producció, traducció i manipulació. Qüestions d'identitat i localització en un context valencià
2006
The question of identity in Valencian Catalan writing is necessarily linked bothnto the language model («model de llengua») followed by authors in original works and in translation, and to the dialogue of this model with actual local varieties. This articlenapproaches the question from the perspective of ideology in discourse, namely thenconstruction of a dialectics of belonging or not belonging, Us and Them, that is atnwork in any linguistic element and at all levels of language. In my discussion of such dialectics of cultural articulation and self-translation I present several examples of recontextualization with relevant ideological implications: intralinguistic translation between conte…

2018
