Vascular damage and lack of angiogenesis in systemic sclerosis skin

The aim of this study was to analyse microvascular damage and compensatory angiogenesis in skin from patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) compared with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and healthy controls. Immunohistochemistry was used for skin biopsies (9 SSc, 10 SLE, 9 RP and 12 healthy controls) using von Willebrand factor and beta3 integrin subunit specific antibodies, TechMate immunostaining robot and biotin-streptavidin protocol. Intramural neovascularization and haemorrhages are major long‐term effects of intravascularγ‐radiation after stenting

Structural changes that might influence the structural integrity of the vessel in response to intravascular brachytherapy (IVB) and stenting were examined, focus being on the importance of neovascularization in rabbit stented arteries. Intussusceptive Remodeling of Vascular Branch Angles in Chemically-Induced Murine Colitis

Intussusceptive angiogenesis is a developmental process linked to both blood vessel replication and remodeling in development. To investigate the prediction that the process of intussusceptive angiogenesis is associated with vessel angle remodeling in adult mice, we systematically evaluated corrosion casts of the mucosal plexus in mice with trinitrobenzesulphonic acid (TNBS)-induced and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. The mice demonstrated a significant decrease in vessel angles in both TNBS-induced and DSS-induced colitis within 4 weeks of the onset of colitis (p<.001). Differential uptake of systemic fluorochrome Hoechst 33342 in lung and liver metastasis of B16 melanoma.

The growth and vascularization patterns of B16 melanoma colonies in the liver and lungs were measured and compared by histological techniques and dye diffusion patterns after injection of the fluorochrome Hoechst 33342. In the liver, the fluorescent pattern of dye diffusion revealed that uninodular tumours measuring up to 146 microns in diameter were not functionally vascularized. Addition of blood to a phycogenic bone substitute leads to increased in vivo vascularization

The present study aimed to analyze the effects of the addition of blood to the phycogenic bone substitute Algipore(®) on the severity of in vivo tissue reaction. Initially, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) of the bone substitute was conducted to analyze its chemical composition. The subcutaneous implantation model in Balb/c mice was then applied for up to 30 d to analyze the tissue reactions on the basis of specialized histochemical, immunohistochemical, and histomorphometrical methods.
