Volume, energy and generalized energy of unit vector fields on Berger spheres: stability of Hopf vector fields
2005
We study to what extent the known results concerning the behaviour of Hopf vector fields, with respect to volume, energy and generalized energy functionals, on the round sphere are still valid for the metrics obtained by performing the canonical variation of the Hopf fibration.
Heat Kernel Measure on Central Extension of Current Groups in any Dimension
2006
We define measures on central extension of current groups in any dimension by using infinite dimensional Brownian motion.
Integration of finite displacement interface element in reference and current configurations
2017
In the present paper the non-linear behaviour of a solid body with embedded cohesive interfaces is examined in a finite displacements context. The principal target is the formulation of a two dimensional interface finite element which is referred to a local reference frame, defined by normal and tangential unit vectors to the interface middle surface. All the geometric operators, such as the interface elongation and the reference frame, are computed as function of the actual nodal displacements. The constitutive cohesive law is defined in terms of Helmholtz free energy for unit undeformed interface surface and, in order to obtain the same nodal force vector and stiffness matrix by the two i…
Generic 3-parameter families of vector fields on the plane, unfolding a singularity with nilpotent linear part. The cusp case of codimension 3
1987
AbstractA cusp type germ of vector fields is a C∞ germ at 0∈ℝ2, whose 2-jet is C∞ conjugate toWe define a submanifold of codimension 5 in the space of germs consisting of germs of cusp type whose 4-jet is C0 equivalent toOur main result can be stated as follows: any local 3-parameter family in (0, 0) ∈ ℝ2 × ℝ3 cutting transversally in (0, 0) is fibre-C0 equivalent to
Identification, sequence and mRNA expression pattern during metamorphosis of a cDNA encoding a glycine-rich cuticular protein in Tenebrio molitor
1995
The study of insect cuticular proteins and their sequences is of interest because they are involved in protein-protein and protein-chitin interactions which confer the mechanical properties and fine architecture of the cuticle. Moreover, in the coleopteran Tenebrio molitor there is a dramatic change in cuticular architecture between pre- and postecdysial secretion. We report the isolation, by differential screening, and the sequence characterization of a cDNA clone encoding a cuticular protein of T. molitor, ACP17. After insertion in the expression vector pEX1, the recognition of the fusion protein by an anti-cuticular monoclonal antibody confirmed the cuticular nature of ACP17. Northern hy…
Applications of stable V79-derived cell lines expressing rat cytochromes P4501A1, 1A2, and 2B1.
1992
1. Chinese hamster V79-derived cell lines, stably expressing cytochromes P4501A1, 1A2, and 2B1 activities, were constructed by genetic engineering in continuation of our work to establish a battery of V79 derived cell lines designed to study the metabolism of xenobiotics. 2. Cell lines XEM1 and XEM2, expressing cytochrome P4501A1, were capable of the O-dealkylation of 7-ethoxycoumarin and the hydroxylation of benzo[a]pyrene. 3. Cell lines XEMd.MZ and XEMd.NH, expressing P4501A2, were shown to hydroxylate 17 beta-estradiol and 2-aminofluorene. 4. Cell line SD1, expressing cytochrome P4502B1, was able to hydroxylate testosterone stereo- and regio-specifically at the 16 alpha and 16 beta posit…
Molecular basis of the functional distinction between Cln1 and Cln2 cyclins
2012
Cln1 and Cln2 are very similar but not identical cyclins. In this work, we tried to describe the molecular basis of the functional distinction between Cln1 and Cln2. We constructed chimeric cyclins containing different fragments of Cln1 and Cln2 and performed several functional analysis that make it possible to distinguish between Cln1 or Cln2. We identified that region between amino acids 225 and 299 of Cln2 is not only necessary but also sufficient to confer Cln2 specific functionality compared with Cln1. We also studied Cln1 and Cln2 subcellular localization identifying additional differences between them. Both cyclins are distributed between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, but Cln1 shows…
Amyloid Precursor-like Protein 1 Influences Endocytosis and Proteolytic Processing of the Amyloid Precursor Protein
2005
Ectodomain shedding of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) is a key regulatory step in the generation of the Alzheimer disease amyloid beta peptide (Abeta). The molecular mechanisms underlying the control of APP shedding remain little understood but are in part dependent on the low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP), which is involved in APP endocytosis. Here, we show that the APP homolog APLP1 (amyloid precursor-like protein 1) influences APP shedding. In human embryonic kidney 293 cells expression of APLP1 strongly activated APP shedding by alpha-secretase and slightly reduced beta-secretase cleavage. As revealed by domain deletion analysis, the increase in APP shedding re…
Baculovirus capsid display: a novel tool for transduction imaging
2003
Baculoviruses are enveloped insect viruses that can carry large quantities of foreign DNA in their genome. Baculoviruses have proved to be very promising gene therapy vectors but little is known about their transduction mechanisms in mammalian cells. We show in this study that Autographa californica multiple nuclear polyhedrosis virus capsid is compatible with the incorporation of desired proteins in large quantities. Fusions can be made to the N-terminus or C-terminus of the major capsid protein vp39 without compromising the viral titer or functionality. As an example of the baculovirus capsid display we show a tracking of the baculovirus transduction in mammalian cells by an enhanced gree…
Generation of tumor-reactive CTL against the tumor-associated antigen HER2 using retrovirally transduced dendritic cells derived from CD34+ hemopoiet…
2000
Abstract Ag-specific CD8+ CTL are crucial for effective tumor rejection. Attempts to treat human malignancies by adoptive transfer of tumor-reactive CTL have been limited due to the difficulty of generating and expanding autologous CTL with defined Ag specificity. The current study examined whether human CTL can be generated against the tumor-associated Ag HER2 using autologous dendritic cells (DC) that had been genetically engineered to express HER2. DC progenitors were expanded by culturing CD34+ hemopoietic progenitor cells in the presence of the designer cytokine HyperIL-6. Proliferating precursor cells were infected by a retroviral vector encoding the HER2 Ag and further differentiated…
