Antioxidant role of microvesicles, activated by genistein, in stem cells

Intercellular communication is an essential hallmark of multicellular organisms. Microvesicles (MVs), which are released from and taken up by most types of cells are involved in intercellular communication. The nutrients we ingest from food contact with immune cells in the bloodstream and can promote the formation of MVs. Some foods contain molecules with regulatory activity, such as genistein, a polyphenol found in soy. We aimed to study the effects of MVs released from genistein-treated immune cells on dental pulp stem cells (DPSC). Microvesicles released from Giardia intestinalis disturb host-pathogen response in vitro

Giardia intestinalis (G.I), is an anaerobic protozoan and the aetiological agent of giardiasis, a diarrhoea present worldwide and associated with poverty. G.I has a simple life cycle alternating between cyst and trophozoite. Cysts are transmitted orally to the stomach and transform to trophozoites in the intestine by a multifactorial process. Recently, microvesicles (MVs) have been found to be released from a wide range of eukaryotic cells. N-Linked Glycosylation of the p24 Family Protein p24δ5 Modulates Retrograde Golgi-to-ER Transport of K/HDEL Ligands in Arabidopsis

Abstract The K/HDEL receptor ERD2 mediates the transport of soluble endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident proteins containing a C-terminal K/HDEL signal from the Golgi apparatus back to the ER via COPI (COat Protein I)-coated vesicles. Sorting of ERD2 within COPI vesicles is facilitated by p24 proteins. In Arabidopsis , p24δ5 has been shown to interact directly with ERD2 via its luminal GOLD (GOLgi Dynamics) domain and with COPI proteins via its cytoplasmic C-terminal tail at the acidic pH of the Golgi apparatus. Gut-microbiota-derived extracellular vesicles: Overlooked mediators in host–helminth interactions?

Helminth infections impact the composition of the mammalian gut microbiota; however, the mechanisms underpinning these interactions are, thus far, unknown. In this article, we propose that microbiota-derived extracellular vesicles might represent key players in host-helminth-microbiome crosstalk, and outline future directions to elucidate their role(s) in host-parasite relationships.

Chaperonins play various physiological roles and can also be pathogenic. Elucidation of their structure, e.g., oligomeric status and post-translational modifications (PTM), is necessary to understand their functions and mechanisms of action in health and disease. A novel community driven software for functional enrichment analysis of extracellular vesicles data

Bioinformatics tools are imperative for the in depth analysis of heterogeneous high-throughput data. Most of the software tools are developed by specific laboratories or groups or companies wherein they are designed to perform the required analysis for the group.
