A multidisciplinary geophysical and geotechnical study, including some non-invasive geophysical applications, was carried out during the restoration of the ‘Villa del Casale’, a Roman villa discovered near Piazza Armerina (Sicily, Italy) in 1929, famous for its Roman floor mosaics. The project aims were to characterize the geology of the subsoil and provide information for solving the main building structural problems including the subsidence of some parts of the floor and the detachment of the tesserae (i.e., the tiles) of the mosaics. [ES] In 1428 the painter Jaume Mateu, who was trained in the workshop of the international Gothic master of Valencia, Pere Nicolau, painted an altarpiece dedicated to San Blas for the jurist Juan Gomez from Villar del Cobo. The parish church of this town still retains some paintings that belong to an old Gothic altarpiece with scenes of San Sebastián, San Fabián, San Jorge and a Crucifixion. This study analyzes the style of the preserved works and places them in the circle of the Valencian painter documented in Villar.

Sur le plateau du Roumois, le lieu-dit Moulin Vaquet à Honguemare-Guenouville (Eure) était occupé entre le VIIe et le Xe siècle par un village, habitat rural polarisé autour d’une nécropole probablement dominée par une église de bois. La fouille de ce site par la MADE sur 8 600m2 complète celle de l’INRAP à quelques centaines de mètres. The commonly used Catalan lexicons (DCVB, DECLC, the vocabulary of Lluis Faraudo de Saint-Germain) collect words and give them meaning from ancient editions of texts. Lexicographers’ performance had its own logic: they used the documentary sources they had at their disposal when they set up to write their works. The advances in philological research (new critical editions, new sources of information) allow us to refine results and detect errors that occurred in old editions and went into dictionaries.
