Culture medium induced vimentin reorganization associates with enhanced baculovirus-mediated gene delivery.

Baculoviruses can express transgenes under mammalian promoters in a wide range of vertebrate cells. However, the success of transgene expression is dependent on both the appropriate cell type and culture conditions. We studied the mechanism behind the substantial effect of the cell culture medium on efficiency of the baculovirus transduction in different cell lines. We tested six cell culture mediums; the highest transduction efficiency was detected in the presence of RPMI 1640 medium. Immunohistochemistry of primary central nervous system malignant rhabdoid tumors: report of five cases and review of the literature

Malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRT) are characterized by a typical light microscopic morphology with uniformly round tumor cells, vacuolated cytoplasm with occasional round, hyaline intracytoplasmic, periodic acid-Schiff-positive inclusions, vesicular nuclei with prominent nucleoli and positive immunoreactivity for vimentin. The histogenesis of MRT is controversial. Five cases of primary central nervous system (CNS) rhabdoid tumors in children are presented. Aims: An extensive colonization of surgical meshes with autologous fibroblasts may reduce complications. Therefore, we aimed to establish a technique that allows isolation and propagation of fibroblasts from vaginal biopsies. Using these cells we tested the applicability of several clinically applied meshes for fibroblast coating. A novel model of human implantation: 3D endometrium-like culture system to study attachment of human trophoblast (Jar) cell spheroids.

These studies aimed to (i) establish a human endometrium-like three-dimensional (3D) culture system, and (ii) examine the attachment of trophoblast-like Jar spher- oids to the culture.
