Exploring the explosive-effusive transition using permanent ultraviolet cameras

Understanding the mechanisms that cause effusive eruptions is the key to mitigating their associated hazard. Here, we combine results from permanent ultra-violet (UV) cameras, and from other geophysical observations (seismic very long period, thermal, and infrasonic activity), to characterize volcanic SO2 flux regime in the period prior, during, and after Stromboli's August-November 2014 effusive eruption. We show that, in the two months prior to effusion onset, the SO2 flux levels are two times average level. Two basic approaches to faith-based diplomacy (FBD) have developed over the last twenty years. For some, it is a synonym of supra-denominational conflict prevention and resolution, and for others, it is an element of the state’s foreign policy exploited to achieve not just cultural but also political goals. The purpose of the chapter is to present the interrelationships between FBD and cultural security in the context of the “return of religion” and the “post-secular turn”. Le donne migranti e le seconde generazioni costituiscono una realtà emergente in Italia anche sotto il profilo del maltrattamento e la violenza intrafamiliare, pur con alcune peculiarità che le distinguono tanto dalle donne italiane, quanto le une dalle altre, a causa delle mille sfaccettature derivanti dalla complessità dei percorsi migratori al femminile. La ricerca, a partire dall’esperienza dei processi migratori di donne straniere in Italia, rintraccia i legami retrospettivi della violenza che fanno da sfondo ad un progetto di emancipazione – tutto al femminile – di donne provenienti per la maggior parte dal terzo mondo.

Non-abusing mothers’ agency after disclosure of the child’s extra-familial sexual abuse

This qualitative study analysed the agency of eight non-abusing mothers in the Turkish Cypriot Community after disclosure that their child had been sexually abused by someone outside the family. The aim was to discover how, after disclosure, such mothers act to protect their children in the contexts of their family and community. The data were gathered via semi-structured in-depth interviews and analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA).
