Dispositif virtuel d'aide à la chirurgie de l'épaule
2008
The goal of this research is to design a virtual reality prototype to assit an orthopedic surgeon during the replacement of the glenohumeral joint by prosthesis. This system aims to optimize the movements of prosthesized shoulder joint from a choice of various scenarios of pose. These works encompasses several topics such as : orthopedic surgery, image analysis, computer graphics and virtual reality. The chosen process includes a phase of modelling of the bony part of the articulation by simple geometric forms, this model is parameterized from radios or CT scans ; a phase of simulation of the movements of healthy glenohumeral joint ; nally the phase of simulation of cutting and drilling wit…
NoC based virtualized FPGA as cloud Services
2016
International audience; Web-based applications are increasingly demanding many computationally intensive services. On the other hand, FPGA-based hardware accelerators(HwAcc) provide good performance in accelerating computationally intensive applications. In addition, some FPGAs support a dynamic partial reconfig-uration (DPR) techniques to virtualize and share the FPGA underlying hardware resources in time multiplexing during run-time to save resource and power consumption. Integrating FPGA in a cloud environment is an indispensable way to improve efficiency and provide acceleration services to demanding users. More importantly, in recent years it was proved that FPGA resources deployed in …
Interaction peripheral device capable of controlling an element for touching and grasping multidimensional virtual objects
2015
An interaction peripheral device capable of controlling an element for touching and grasping multidimensional virtual objects, including at least two interaction modules, each interaction module being intended to be actuated by a finger of an operator and including a control sensor allowing control of displacement, according to a predetermined number of degrees of freedom, of a portion of the element for touching and grasping virtual objects by bending/extending and/or adduction/abduction displacement of the finger of the operator, and a vibrator able to emit a vibration upon touching and/or letting go of a virtual object by a portion of said element for touching and grasping virtual object…
A predictive approach for a real-time remote visualization of large meshes
2012
Déjà sur HAL; Remote access to large meshes is the subject of studies since several years. We propose in this paper a contribution to the problem of remote mesh viewing. We work on triangular meshes. After a study of existing methods of remote viewing, we propose a visualization approach based on a client-server architecture, in which almost all operations are performed on the server. Our approach includes three main steps: a first step of partitioning the original mesh, generating several fragments of the original mesh that can be supported by the supposed smaller Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) window size of the network, a second step called pre-simplification of the mesh partitioned, ge…

Artificial Potential Field Simulation Framework for Semi-Autonomous Car Conception
2017
International audience; Artificial potential field is investigated to provide a high level of synergy between driver and semi-autonomous vehicle. This article presents a framework developed to test the performances of this approach. Stand-alone performances of this system is tested for a lane keeping and cruise control application. Performances are promising and future development is discussed.
Scheduling independent stochastic tasks on heterogeneous cloud platforms
2019
International audience; This work introduces scheduling strategies to maximize the expected number of independent tasks that can be executed on a cloud platform within a given budget and under a deadline constraint. The cloud platform is composed of several types of virtual machines (VMs), where each type has a unitexecution cost that depends upon its characteristics. The amount of budget spent during the execution of a task on a given VM is the product of its execution length by the unit execution cost of that VM. The execution lengths of tasks follow a variety of standard probability distributions (exponential, uniform, halfnormal, etc.), which is known beforehand and whose mean and stand…
Enhancing the National Identity through Historic Buildings Conservation using VR Technology
2011
The event organized by TOTAL, Indonesian Embassy in France, etc.; International audience; Indonesia comprises the most extraordinary collections of cultural heritage within various historical places. Those heritage sites in all over Indonesia longingly present its own spirit of place, genius loci, as perform on its unique artifacts, and the community's cultural resources. The legacy of Indonesian collective past such as the built environment, artifacts, shrines and temples, buildings and monuments, sites and districts from the village to the center city are some significant heritages that very important for our national identity. Unfortunately, many heritage objects have been neglected towa…

Comparison of immersive room and virtual reality, through the consumption episode "Eating a sandwich in a park"
2020
International audience; Conventional approaches for consumers’ tests, CLT and HUT, lead respectively to a high either internal or external validity. In recent years, several immersive approaches have been developed to achieve both internal and external validity at the same time, i.e. environments close to actual consumption context while keeping parameters under control. Virtual reality (VR) is one of the most promising one.In this study, we assess two immersive strategies in terms of internal and external validity for a consumption episode “having a sandwich for lunch in a park”. The two experimental conditions were an immersive room (N = 57, Fig. 1) and a VR environment (N = 55, Fig. 2). …
