Military honour and physical commitment to serve king and fatherland played a central role in the ideals of the army of Charles XII of Sweden. These ideals were formed within a culture in which the role of the warrior, dictated by a code of honour, was constantly challenged. My main empirical primary sources consist of the archivale records of the Swedish Diet, which included Placement Committee records from the Diet of 1723. An honourable man had the right to a livelihood and a respectable position in society. The Morisco Jesuit P. Ignacio de Las Casas collaborated in the translation of some of the lead books found in Granada at the end of the 16th century. At first he was a partisan of their authenticity, but he rapidly became convinced that they were false. There followed a fierce struggle to make the Church prevent their publication. In the article his activity as a translator of these texts is reviewed, together with the arguments, which he used in order to criticise the doctrine contained in the lead books. A pesar de la ausencia de unos claros precedentes visuales, la Templanza configuró su visualidad en el medievo al igual que sus compañeras. Purpose– The purpose of this paper is to present a new instrument for measuring cultural intelligence in the business context (BCIQ).Design/methodology/approach– The paper describes the process of the conceptualization of the model and the development of the instrument, the sample, as well as the validation of the instrument.
