Virtualization of work in global supply chains

2016

Background: The paper is devoted to the notion and benefits of implementing virtual work in global supply chains. Virtual work must be understood as an intentional activity of a human being, aimed at rendering services (tangible and intangible), by means of ITC tools, performed in a distance from the traditional place of work, in a mobile manner. The empirical research were conducted on the basis of 4 case studies of global leaders of supply chains, which in accordance with M. Fisher's classification, represent two types. The case studies confirmed the positive influence of virtual work both in effective and flexible supply chains. Favourable market and technological conditions and incr…

Afterword

2023

It is well known that the disciplines of representation contain many souls, from visual communication to the history of representation, from relief drawing to project drawing, from descriptive geometry to digital transitions; and then there are two great strands, the architectural and the engineering, one more humanistic, the other more technical.

A Self-Contained Biometric Sensor for Ubiquitous Authentication

2007

This paper describes a real-life behavior framework in simulation game based on Probabilistic State Machine (PSM) with Gaussian random distribution. According to the dynamic environment information, NPC can generate behavior planning autonomously associated with defined FSM. After planning process, we illuminate Gaussian probabilistic function for real-life action simulation in time and spatial domains. The expected value of distribution is estimated during behavior planning process and variance is determined by NPC personality in order to realize real life behavior simulation. We experiment the framework and Gaussian PSM on a restaurant simulation game. Furthermore we give some suggestions…

Remote Attestation of Software and Execution-Environment in Modern Machines

2015

The research on network security concentrates mainly on securing the communication channels between two endpoints, which is insufficient if the authenticity of one of the endpoints cannot be determined with certainty. Previously presented methods that allow one endpoint, the authentication authority, to authenticate another remote machine. These methods are inadequate for modern machines that have multiple processors, introduce virtualization extensions, have a greater variety of side effects, and suffer from nondeterminism. This paper addresses the advances of modern machines with respect to the method presented by Kennell. The authors describe how a remote attestation procedure, involving…

Towards a scenario of virtual mental health environments for school-aged children

2017

This study explores student teachers’ future design scenarios focusing on promoting children’s mental health literacy through virtual reality (VR) environments. VR use is on the verge of many breakthroughs in several areas of lived experience. One such area pertains to educational contexts. Student teachers were chosen as the subjects of this study due to the likelihood that they will be the primary users and disseminators of these emerging technologies in educational contexts. The students created five types of future scenarios that contained different environments and activity modes, including those that are still not yet feasible to realize with current technological capabilities. The ai…

Learning styles module as a part of a virtual campus

2016

For several years now, learning style mapping has been carried out for our students of the master's degree education in information technology. To better utilize learning styles in practice, a learning style module was integrated into the multimedia platform used in the education. The learning style module serves both the student and the educator. The goal was to create an application which, in the long run, would diversify the learning environment and make learning more efficient. This study describes the functioning and integration of the learning style application. The deployment of the application is monitored by collecting statistics of its use and feedback of its usability and usefuln…

INTEGRATED VIRTUAL CINETCAMPUS STUDIES ENVIRONMENT

2016

Rapid growth of data communications and technologies has created favorable conditions for a strong increase in the number of videos produced for education especially in higher education institutes. New technologies make the production of videos suitable for teaching very easy. With the help of videos, it is possible to improve flexibility and diversity in teaching. On the other hand, the management and distribution of videos has often been realized separately from other applications (e.g., learning management systems) which are used in teaching. This makes their full utilization difficult and creates extra work. This article introduces the CiNetCampus environment designed for teaching with …

Reducing Relationship Conflict in Virtual Teams With Diversity Faultlines: The Effect of an Online Affect Management Intervention on the Rate of Grow…

2020

The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of an online affect management intervention on relationship conflict through the rate of growth of team resilience in virtual teams with diversity faultlines. Fifty-two 4-person teams participated in a randomized controlled trial design with repeated measures (i.e., three measurement occasions). Teams were randomly assigned to either an intervention designed to help them manage emotions in virtual teams or a control condition. Our findings showed that affect management can reduce the level of relationship conflict in virtual teams with diversity faultlines and that this effect can be explained by the pattern of change in team resilience in re…
