Chasing Shakespeare: The Impurity of the “Not Quite” in Norry Niven’s From Above and Abbas Kiarostami’s Where Is My Romeo

The essay situates the “not Shakespeare” of this volume within the theoretical problematics of the “post-textual.” It re-elaborates the “post-textual” as the uncanny re-appearance of Shakespeare in the form of heterogeneous fragments that are made to cohabit with various textual and media environments. These media products include a “Shakespeare” that is not quite Shakespeare, an “entity” that becomes the site of unceasing transactions (for instance, between an “outside” and an “inside,” between visibility and invisibility, between the “original” and its iteration) and multiple contaminations (through media, characters, and plays).

Abstract Latvia's independence period saw translations on a massive scale. The range of source languages was growing, with English overtaking German (German was also the main intermediary language). The importance of fiscal visibility has been well known for a long time but attempts to quantify it by taking the internal structure of every type of revenue and expenditure in a fiscal system into consideration are recent. Indicators used until now rest on structural parameters combined in a multiplicative way with a 0 estimate always resulting in at least one of such factors being null. An alternative way to measure fiscal visibility consists of combining parametric values in an additive instead of a multiplicative form. Identification of the mandibular landmarks in a pediatric population

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine and compare the reliability to accomplish of common mandibular landmarks and to determine the incidence of incisive canals, anterior looping, and lingual foramina in children from panoramic and CBCT images. Study Design: Panoramic and CBCT images from 100 children and adolescent patients were randomly selected. In order to grade the visibility of mandibular anatomical landmarks, a four-point rating scale was used. Results: In panoramic images, the mandibular canal could be observed in 92.5% of cases, with good visibility in 12.0%. Mesopic vision characteristics at decreased contrast in fog

Perception of different color contrast stimuli was studied in the presence of light scattering in a fog chamber in Clermont-Ferrand and in laboratory conditions where light scattering of similar levels was obtained. Blue (shortest wavelength) light is scattered in fog to the greatest extent, causing deterioration of vision quality especially for the monochromatic blue stimuli. We have done spectral measurements of the light source in different density fog conditions and no spectral changes were found produced by the fog. Psychophysical measurements of the acuity in fog were done for two subjects with optotypes analyzed for red and blue stimuli.

Women remained invisible in health sciences until the late twentieth century because they were not included in the cohorts used in researched studies. Thanks to the work done by different groups of feminist researchers, we were able to visualise the need to change those paradigms. But while gender perspectives have allowed us to research new aspects of science, gender has sometimes contributed to rendering female-specific health issues as invisible. For every n, the normal distribution with expectation μ and variance σ 2 is the nth convolution power of a probability measure (namely of the normal distribution with expectation μ/n and variance σ 2/n). This property is called infinite divisibility and is shared by other probability distributions such as the Poisson distribution and the Gamma distribution. In the first section, we study which probability measures on the real line are infinitely divisible and give an exhaustive description of this class of distributions by means of the Levy–Khinchin formula.
Optimal design of incoherent tunable-frequency structured illumination microscope scheme

Structured illumination microscopy (SIM) improves resolution and optical sectioning capability compared to conventional widefield techniques. The main idea of this method is the illumination of the sample with a structured pattern of fixed spatial modulation frequency. Previously, a Fresnel biprism has been implemented in a structured illumination (SI) device providing tunable-frequency sinusoidal patterns. However, the use of this SI system introduces a tradeoff between the visibility and field of view of the illumination fringes. In this contribution, we analyze theoretically this tradeoff and propose the optimal design for the Fresnel biprism-based SIM system.
