Continuous hydrothermal synthesis in supercritical conditions as a novel process for the elaboration of Y-doped BaZrO3

Abstract The present work describes a novel process for the elaboration of a ceramic material. Y-doped barium zirconate, an electrolyte material for Protonic Ceramic Fuel cell, was synthesized by a continuous hydrothermal process in supercritical conditions (410 °C/30.0 MPa) using nitrate precursors and NaOH reactants. The use of supercritical water allowed the formation of particles of about 50 nm in diameter with a narrow size distribution. X-Ray Diffraction examination revealed that a major perovskite phase with few BaCO3 and YO(OH) impurities was obtained. Corrosion of Welded Metal Structures of Mining Equipment

Mining equipment made of welded metal structures is strongly affected by the corrosion phenomenon due to the working conditions. Initial research has shown that the corrosion phenomenon is most pronounced in the area of cross-welded joints and welded T-shaped joints. In the researches, there was made a chemical analysis of the welded construction material used respectively of the new material and it was observed a reduction in carbon concentration in the material used, but also a substantial increase in the sulfur concentration compared to the new material. Enhancement of the dielectric response through Al-substitution in La1.6Sr0.4NiO4 nickelates

The structures and dielectric properties of La1.6Sr0.4Ni1−xAlxO4 (x = 0, 0.2 and 0.4) ceramics elaborated using the Pechini method were studied for the first time. The same unique tetragonal phase was found in all compounds. The lattice parameters were found using Rietveld refinement. The surface morphology characterization and elemental analysis of these samples were respectively carried out using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Performances and duration of the new generation of high voltage power electronic components are dependent on dielectric materials aim to insulating their internal terminals. Crystalline phase detection in glass ceramics by EPR spectroscopy

The advances of EPR spectroscopy for the detection of activators as well as determining their local structure in the crystalline phase of glass ceramics is considered. The feasibility of d-element (Mn2+, Cu2+) and f-element (Gd3+, Eu2+) ion probes for the investigation of glass ceramics is discussed. In the case of Mn2+, the information is obtained from the EPR spectrum superhyperfine structure, for Gd3+ and Eu2+ probes – from the EPR spectrum fine structure, whereas for Cu2+ ions the changes in the EPR spectrum shape could be useful. Quasi-static behaviour and damage assessment of flax/epoxy composites

Experimental investigations were conducted on flax and E-glass fibres reinforced epoxy matrix composites subjected to quasi-static loadings. Flax/epoxy samples having [0]12, [90]12, [0/90]3S and [±45]3S stacking sequences, with a fibre volume fraction of 43% have been tested under tension, compression and in-plane shear loadings. Overall, the compression strength of glass/epoxy was 76% greater than for the flax/epoxy composite. The damage evolution of flax/epoxy of [0/90]3S and [±45]3S samples has been evaluated in terms of transverse crack densities with respect to the load increment. Experimental Investigation of Efficiency Map for an Inverter-Fed Surface-Mount Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Losses in inverter-fed permanent magnet motors are underestimated by using analytical or numerical approach since additional losses due to extra harmonics of the frequency converter are normally skipped. Further, losses in switches and passive components of the converter and the effect of switching frequencies cannot be numerically taken into consideration. Loss-minimizing control and proper efficiency analysis of inverter-fed permanent magnet motors cannot be achieved if an efficiency map is built based on a numerical investigation of the motors alone. Processing, basic characterization and standard dielectric measurements on PLZT x/65/35 (2≤x≤13) ceramics

ABSTRACTThe influence of external stress (0-800bar) on the dielectric properties of PLZT x/65/35 (2≤x≤13) ceramics was investigated. Applying uniaxial pressure leads to a change in the peak intensity of the electric permittivity (ϵ), of its frequency dispersion as well as in the dielectric hysteresis. The peak intensity of ϵ becomes broader and shifts to lower temperatures for PLZT x/65/35 with x = 2, 4, 6, 7, 9.75, 10, 11 and 13, with increasing pressure, on heating. It was concluded that applying uniaxial pressure induces an increase of Tm, and thus has similar effects as the increase of the Ti ion concentration in the PZT system. Microwave properties and structure of La–Ti–Si–B–O glass-ceramics for applications in GHz electronics

Abstract A dielectric bulk glass-ceramic of the La 2 O 3 –TiO 2 –SiO 2 –B 2 O 3 system is developed which is able to fulfill the requirements for dielectric loading-based mobile communication technologies. It is shown that the given dielectric requirements can be fulfilled by glass-ceramic materials without being dependent on ceramic processing techniques. The material exhibited permittivity values of 20  ɛ r Qf τ f τ f material with a Qf value of 9500 GHz and ɛ r  = 21.4 could be achieved at a ceramming temperature T cer  = 870 °C.
