Optical methods for the detection of heavy metal ions
2014
The review covers an important area of the modern chemistry, namely, the detection of heavy metal ions using optical molecular detectors. The role of this method in metal ion detection and the physicochemical grounds of operation of chemosensors are discussed, and examples of detection of most abundant heavy metal ions and synthetic approaches to molecular detectors are presented. The immobilization of molecular detectors on solid substrates for the design of analytical sensor devices is described. The bibliography includes 178 references.
Guest-Induced Selective Functionalization of Polyaza[n]paracyclophanes
1998
A new strategy to the preparation of selectively functionalized polyazamacrocycles is presented. Polyaza[n]paracyclophane receptors are able to efficiently direct their own selective functionalization upon interaction with simple guests such as metal cations. This enables the preparation of novel receptors functionalized at one of the benzylic nitrogen atoms with a variety of groups. Selective difunctionalization at both benzylic positions can also be achieved in this way.

Oligo-m-phenyleneoxalamide Copper(II) Mesocates as Electro-Switchable Ferromagnetic Metal–Organic Wires
2010
Double-stranded copper(II) string complexes of varying nuclearity, from di- to tetranuclear species, have been prepared by the CuII-mediated self-assembly of a novel family of linear homo- and heteropolytopic ligands that contain two outer oxamato and either zero (1 b), one (2 b), or two (3 b) inner oxamidato donor groups separated by rigid 2-methyl-1,3-phenylene spacers. The X-ray crystal structures of these CuIIn complexes (n=2 (1 d), 3 (2 d), and 4 (3 d)) show a linear array of metal atoms with an overall twisted coordination geometry for both the outer CuN2O2 and inner CuN4 chromophores. Two such nonplanar all-syn bridging ligands 1 b–3 b in an anti arrangement clamp around the metal ce…
Substitution Effects in Double Perovskites: How the Crystal Structure Influences the Electronic Properties
2013
We systematically studied substituted Sr2FeReO6 with respect to experimental characterization and theoretical band structure calculations. In the framework of the tight-binding approach, hole- or electron-doping of Sr2MM’O6 were performed at the M or M’ positions either by transition or main group metals. Hole-doping, rather than electron-doping, has a favorable effect to improve the half-metallicity (Curie temperature and saturation magnetization) of the parent compound. When M is substituted by another metal, the original M’ metal will serve as a redox buffer (and vice versa). Substituting M by another metal with a size similar to that of the metal at M’ position causes disorder, which ha…
