Structural, photophysical and magnetic properties of transition metal complexes based on the dipicolylamino-chloro-1,2,4,5-tetrazine ligand

2015

International audience; The ligand 3-chloro-6-dipicolylamino-1,2,4,5-tetrazine (Cl-TTZ-dipica) 1, prepared by the direct reaction between 3,6-dichloro-1,2,4,5-tetrazine and di(2-picolyl)-amine, afforded a series of four neutral transition metal complexes formulated as [Cl-TTZ-dipica-MCl2]2, with M = Zn(II), Cd(II), Mn(II) and Co(II), when reacted with the corresponding metal chlorides. The dinuclear structure of the isostructural complexes was disclosed by single crystal X-ray analysis, clearly indicating the formation of [MII–(μ-Cl)2MII] motifs and the involvement of the amino nitrogen atom in semi-coordination with the metal centers, thus leading to distorted octahedral coordination geome…

An Entry to Mixed NHC-Fischer Carbene Complexes and Zwitterionic Group 6 Metal Alkenyls

2016

The addition of NHCs to α,β-unsaturated Cr(0) and W(0) (Fischer) carbene complexes is strongly dependent on the electrophilicity of the carbene carbon. Electrophilic alkoxy-carbene complexes quantitatively react with NHCs to yield stable zwitterionic (racemic) Cr(0) - and W(0) -alkenyls with total regio- and E-stereoselectivity. Less electrophilic aminocarbenes react with NHCs to promote the displacement of a CO ligand and yield "mixed" NHC/Fischer biscarbenes in a process that is unprecedented in group 6 metal-carbene chemistry. In fact, the compounds prepared, are some of the scarce examples of Fischer bisylidenes reported in the literature. The electrochemistry of the zwitterionic Cr(0) …

Unsymmetrically Substituted Bis(phosphino)Ferrocenes Triggering Through-Space 31(P, P′)-Nuclear Spin Couplings and Encapsulating Coinage Metal Cations

2021

International audience; We describe unsymmetrically substituted di-tert-butylated 1,1'-bis(phosphino)ferrocenes, with phosphino substituents R = [5-methyl]-2-furyl = Fu, and R' = phenyl (4a), i-propyl (4b). A modular synthetic approach was applied from the di-tert-butylated ferrocene platform (1), which lead to the formation of new diphosphines by using 1,1'bis(diiodo)-3,3'-bis(tert-butyl)ferrocene (2) as synthetic precursor. In contrast to the cousin non-alkylated unsymmetrically substituted diphosphino-ferrocenes which were reported up to now, these diphosphines showed strong (31 P, P')nonbonded (" ug-p e") nuclear spin-spin coupling. The strength of such internuclear spin-spin coupling c…

Regioselective Metal- and Reagent-Free Arylation of Benzothiophenes by Dehydrogenative Electrosynthesis.

2018

A novel strategy for the synthesis of biaryls consisting of a benzothiophene and a phenol moiety is reported. These heterobiaryls are of utmost interest for pharmaceutical, biological, and high-performance optoelectronic applications. The metal- and reagent-free, electrosynthetic, and highly efficient method enables the generation of 2- and 3-(hydroxyphenyl)benzo[b]thiophenes in a regioselective fashion. The described one-step synthesis is easy to conduct, scalable, and inherently safe. The products are afforded in high yields of up to 88 % and with exquisite selectivity. The reaction also features a broad scope and tolerates a large variety of functional groups.

Isolating reactive metal-based species in Metal-Organic Frameworks - viable strategies and opportunities.

2021

Structural insight into reactive species can be achieved via strategies such as matrix isolation in frozen glasses, whereby species are kinetically trapped, or by confinement within the cavities of host molecules. More recently, Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have been used as molecular scaffolds to isolate reactive metal-based species within their ordered pore networks. These studies have uncovered new reactivity, allowed observation of novel metal-based complexes and clusters, and elucidated the nature of metal-centred reactions responsible for catalysis. This perspective considers strategies by which metal species can be introduced into MOFs and highlights some of the advantages and lim…

Fluorescence Quenching in BODIPYs Having Ir‐ and Rh‐Tethered Complexes

2016

The effect of Rh- and Ir-centers on the optical properties of the BODIPY core has been studied. To this end, novel metal complexes tethered to BODIPY have been prepared through an easy and versatile procedure using N-directed C–H activation reactions. The organometallic moiety has a tremendous influence on the emissive properties of the BODIPY fragment. A photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mechanism is suggested to be the main mechanism responsible for the suppression of the BODIPY fluorescence emission in the newly formed dyads. The efficiency of the PET depends on both the distance between the chromophores in the dyad and the nature of the transition metal (Rh vs. Ir).

Bis(2-methylbenzimidazole-κN1)copper(I) dichlorocuprate(I)

2004

By using alternating-current electrochemical synthesis, crystals of the copper(I) ionic compound composed of [Cu(C8H8N2)2]+ and [CuCl2]− ions have been obtained and structurally investigated. Both crystallographically independent Cu atoms lie on centres of inversion and exhibit the less-common coordination number 2. A linear arrangement of the metal atoms includes two N atoms of the different organic moieties in the [Cu(2-methylbenzimidazole)2]+ cation and two Cl atoms in the case of the inorganic anion.

Cooperative H-bonds, π⋯π and anion⋯π interactions as driving forces in the construction of novel Cu(II) bis(imidazol-2-yl) supramolecular 3D framewor…

2019

Abstract Two new Cu(II) complexes with bis(2-imidazolyl) based ligands, with the formula [Cu(BIM)2(SCN)2]·2H2O (BIM = bis(2-imidazol-2-yl)methane) and [Cu(HBIMAM)2(OH2)2](BF4)4·2H2O (BIMAM = bis(2-imidazol-2-yl)methylaminomethane) have been synthesized and characterized. Both compounds contain mononuclear entities as molecular building blocks (MBBs); neutral [Cu(BIM)2(SCN)2] in compound 1 and cationic [Cu(HBIMAM)2(OH2)2]4+ in compound 2. The coordination around the metal atoms shows a tetragonally-elongated octahedral geometry (CuN4S2 and CuN4O2 chromophores). The Q-band EPR spectra of both compounds are indicative of an essentially d x 2 - y 2 ground state for copper(II) ions. The analysis…

Dicopper(II) pyrazolenophanes: Ligand effects on their structures and magnetic properties

2016

Abstract The use of simple pyrazolate anions and related polychelating acyclic or macrocyclic pyrazolate derivatives as bridging ligands, and occasionally additional blocking ligands, has led to the stereospecific Cu II -mediated self-assembly of both homo- and heteroleptic di-μ-pyrazolatodicopper(II) complexes of the metallacyclophane type, so-called dicopper(II) pyrazolenophanes. Besides their unique molecular conformation features and binding abilities toward both neutral molecules and charged anionic species, which have illustrated the putative role of weak intramolecular π–π stacking, hydrogen bonding, and coordinative interactions in the self-assembling process, dicopper(II) pyrazolen…
