The Effects of Thermo-Baric Synthesis on the Structure and Properties of the Ferroelectric Li0.125Na0.875NbO3Solid Solution
2014
ABSTRACTResults of X-ray diffraction, dielectric, and Raman studies of the ferroelectric Li0.125Na0.875NbO3 solid solution obtained under hot-pressing conditions (6 GPa, 1400 and 1800 K) are compared with those of the same compound synthesized by conventional ceramics technology. The thermo-barometric synthesis is found to improve the ordering of cations and to increase the value of dielectric permittivity and ion conductivity of the ceramics.
Influence of the pH on the ZnO nanoparticle growth in supercritical water: Experimental and simulation approaches
2014
Abstract In order to improve the knowledge on the nucleation and the growth mechanisms of metal oxides nanoparticles produced in supercritical water domain, ZnO was used as a “model” material. A continuous process of hydrothermal synthesis was employed to synthesize ZnO nanopowders ( T = 410 °C and P = 305 bar) from Zn(NO 3 ) 2 and KOH solutions with different values of [KOH]/[Zn(II)] ratio from 0 to 8 in order to investigate the pH effect on the growth of ZnO nanocrystallite in terms of size and morphology. The samples were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction and Transmission Electronic Microscopy. ZnO crystal was considered as a cylindrical crystallite with a diameter D and height H . Es…
Iron Doped-ZrSiO4: Structural, Microstructural and Vibrational Characterization
2015
Fex-ZrSiO4 is known for the applications in the ceramic industry such as ceramic pigment. In this article, we focus our attention to the structural, microstructural and vibrational changes of Fex-ZrSiO4 from free-mineralizer precursors, treated at different temperatures in the range of 1100-1600 °C. The refinements of X-ray diffraction patterns show that Fe3+ cations were distributed into tetrahedral sites replacing Si4+. The evolution of the shape distribution analyzed by transmission electron microscopy, reveal a polyhedral morphology at 1100 °C during 3h. In comparison, well-rounded and homogeneous particle size was determined in the sample heated at 1600 °C during 24 h. On the other han…
Electrical Characterization of the Fe-Doped BT Ceramics by an Impedance Spectroscopy
2015
The electric properties of the Fe - doped BaTiO3 ceramics was investigated as a function of frequency and temperature. The structure and morphology of investigated sample were characterized by an X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The impedance measurements were carried out at the temperature ranging from 450 K to 600 K, and at the frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 10 MHz. Based on these parameters the electrical properties of the grains and grains boundaries were described. The bulk and grains boundaries resistance of ceramics and the thermal activation energies were determined.
Extractive-Pyrolytic Method for Au/MeOx Nanocomposites Production
2014
Au/MeOx(MeOx- SiO2, Al2O3and TiO2) nanocomposites have been produced by the extractive-pyrolytic method. An organic extract – a solution of n-trioctylammonium tetrachlorolaurate ([Oct3NH]AuCl4) in toluene – was used as a gold-containing precursor. The produced samples were analyzed by IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The performed studies have shown that the mean size of the metal crystallites vary within wide limits: on Al2O3from 60 nm to 35 nm; on SiO2from 33 nm to 23 nm; on TiO2from 50 nm to 13 nm.
Growth and characterization of Mg 1‐x Cd x O thin films
2016
In this paper, we study the growth of thin films of the Mg1–xCdxO alloy in the Mg-rich range of compositions by using the metal organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) method at low pressure. X-ray diffraction (XRD) has been used to analyse the compound formation and the progressive incorporation of Cd2+ ions into the cubic MgO lattice. Both, layers with a single-cubic phase of Mg1–xCdxO and layers with a phase separation, where Cd1–xMgxO and Mg1–xCdxO coexist, have been studied. Finally, a morphological study of the layers has been carried out by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the layers' composition has been measured by energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Characterization of Dielectric Anomaly in Solid Solution Based on BaTiO3
2011
The influence of Zr doping on a structure and dielectric properties of Ba0.8Sr0.2TiO3 were studied. For this purpose Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.75Zr0.25O3 ceramics were obtained by a conventional method and were determined by an X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for crystallographic, surface morphological and compositional studies. The temperature and frequency dependence of dielectric permittivity were studied in the temperature range from 150 to 500 K and the frequency between 20 Hz and 1000000 Hz. The thermal behavior of the Ba0.8Sr0.2Ti0.75Zr0.25O3 ceramics were also studied using Differential Scanning Calorimetry. A diffusivity coefficient γ was calculated.
Preparation and Electric Properties of Barium Zirconium Titanate Ceramic
2015
The relaxor behavior of barium zirconium titanate ceramics BaZr0.35Ti0.65O3 prepared by a conventional sintering process was investigated. The synthesized material was determined by an X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Based on performed studies, the BaZr0.35Ti0.65O3 ceramic material has been identified as canonical relaxor, related to the Ti-rich polar regions. The freezing temperature Tf and activation energy Ea are calculated from the Vogel-Fulcher relationship.
Diffraction by fractal metallic supergratings.
2007
The reflectance of corrugated surfaces with a fractal distribution of grooves is investigated. Triadic and polyadic Cantor fractal distributions are considered, and the reflected intensity is compared with that of the corresponding periodic structure. The self-similarity property of the response is analyzed when varying the depth of the grooves and the lacunarity parameter. The results confirm that the response is self-similar for the whole range of depths considered, and this property is also maintained for all values of the lacunarity parameter. © 2007 Optical Society of America. Preparation of photocatalytic brookite thin films
2007
Pure brookite films were deposited from a brookite dispersion obtained by peptizing a mixture brookite–rutile prepared by thermolysis of TiCl4 in a HCl solution. The films were characterised by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The photoactivity of the samples was tested by using the photo-oxidation of 2-propanol in gas–solid regime as a probe reaction. The brookite films efficiently degraded 2-propanol under UV illumination.
