2015

Abstract The quality of public services provided by the courts became one of the most important objectives in all developed countries. According to the current requirements, organizations must respond more promptly to the society’s needs and demands. The citizen / customer’s position and role became essential taking into consideration these changes and reforms, the quality of legal services depends on the user’s demands and expectations holding a strong subjective character. On the other hand, the quality does not apply solely to the final product, namely the court’s decision, but to all related activities carried out during the whole process, the way the citizens perceive all the adjacent …

Linking service structural complexity to customer satisfaction

2001

The literature shows a paradox in the understanding of the relationship between structural complexity (defined as the diversity of services offered by an organization) and customer satisfaction. Structural complexity tends to be a popular strategy designed to satisfy different customer needs. However, a negative relationship between structural complexity and customer satisfaction has also been argued. Based on the research on the public versus private distinction, this paper proposes that type of ownership is associated with the paradox mentioned, moderating the relationship between structural complexity and customer satisfaction. The authors tested this hypothesis using a sample of 60 mana…

Mise en scéne et origine perçue des voix hallucinées dans des discours de patients schizophrènes

2008

International audience; This research explores how hallucinated voices appear in schizophrenic patient's narrations. Fourteen narrations of hallucinated patients were studied and are reported. Results show significant differences regarding the prevalence of use in the types of reported speeches, the ones most employed are reported speech and undetermined reported speech as respectively cited. The report mentions that hallucinated discourse is entirely separate and autonomous from the rest of the narration. These results underscore the xenopathic characteristic of hallucinated voices in the elaboration of the narration. These results are discussed for future research in this perspective and …

Local oropharyngeal side effects of inhaled corticosteroids in patients with asthma.

2006

The widespread use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) for the treatment of persistent asthma, although highly effective, may be associated with both systemic and local side effects. Systemic side effects of ICS have been extensively studied. In contrast, relatively few studies have been performed to specifically evaluate local side effects of ICS. These local side effects--including oropharyngeal candidiasis, dysphonia, pharyngitis, and cough--are generally viewed as minor complications of therapy. However, they can be clinically significant, affect patient quality of life, hinder compliance with therapy, and mask symptoms of more serious disease. Local side effects result from deposition of …

Voicing the child? A case study in Finnish early childhood education

2013

Contemporary Nordic early childhood education and care takes as its starting point the individual and ‘competent’ child and emphasizes the aim to take account of children’s views. It is also common in educational settings that the child’s views are documented and thus transformed into contexts in which they are discussed between the adults. In light of a case study of 22 parent–teacher meetings in Finnish early childhood education and care the article discusses the position of the child’s voice in this context. The theoretical framework is based on a relational view of childhood and the child’s voice, on theories of face-to-face and institutional interaction and on discursive psychology. T…

Intertextual Voices of Children, Parents, and Specialists in Individual Education Plans

2019

Planning support and education services requires multifaceted information from professionals, parents, and children. Despite this, educators have emphasized professional opinions in individual education plans (IEPs), whereas the perspectives of children and parents have remained inconsequential. In this study, we examine the intertextual voices of children, parents, and specialists in IEPs (N = 287) drafted in Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC). The findings show that educators use intertextual voices to serve the following functions: (1) Creating a more multidimensional image of a child, (2) presenting evidence for their argumentation, and (3) assigning the responsibility to…

Market-driven product and service design: Bridging the gap between customer needs, quality management, and customer satisfaction

2000

Bridging the gap between a firm's internal quality improvements and external measures of customer needs and satisfaction is an important yet complex translation process. The process has traditionally been studied within two very different domains. An external focus on customers has been the domain of marketers. Manufacturing and engineering-based approaches to quality management and improvement have traditionally taken a more internal, process improvement focus. Both areas have recognized the need to broaden thier focus and bridge the gap between internal quality and external customers needs and satisfaction. This paper offers a framework to integrate these two domains. A case study is pres…

Technological and organizational capital : Where complementarities exist

2018

This study analyzes the complementarities between technological and organizational capital within enterprises. Different components of technological and organizational capital exert distinct—and often opposed—forces on each other. Our empirical results show that greater employee voice promotes firm productivity when combined with information technology, but harms firm productivity when combined with communication technology. On the other hand, flexible work design is positively associated with communication technology and negatively associated with information technology. peerReviewed

Example, please! Comparing the effects of single customer reviews and aggregate review scores on online shoppers' product evaluations

2014

Many websites of online retail stores display two forms of electronic word of mouth on a single product site, namely single customer reviews and aggregate review scores. This study compares the effects of simultaneously presented single customer reviews and aggregate review scores on product evaluations of visitors of online retail stores. We hypothesize that well-argued single customer reviews should be more influential than aggregate review scores that display the mean rating of all published reviews of a product. Drawing on a 2 × 2 factorial online experiment, we show that a single customer review is effective, even when potential buyers do not perceive it as representing overall custome…
