Physico-chemical evolution of low-pH cements : influence of the temperature and the retention mechanisme of alkalins

Because of their high alkalinity, Portland cement (OPC)-based materials may have deleterious effects in an underground waste repository. A solution would be to use low-alkalinity cements (also referred as low-pH cements) generating interstitial solutions with a reduced pH (11 instead of 13.5 for OPC), and thus showing an improved chemical compatibility with the repository environment. In this work, the investigated formulations were based on binary (OPC / silica fume) or ternary (OPC / silica fume / slag or fly ash) blends, with high substitution levels of CEM I (from 30% to 80%). Il saggio ripercorre la genesi dell'"Olandese volante" di Richard Wagner, soffermandosi sulle differenze tra la prima e la seconda versione dell'opera. Inoltre, traccia un quadro d'insieme delle incisioni discografiche esistenti, con riferimento alle registrazioni del Preludio dell'opera realizzate da Richard Strauss (nel 1928) e da Bruno Walter (nel 1959).

The University of Palermo joins since few years the Compasso Volante Competition, that is still keeping, in different ways, its original spirit. The city of Palermo has represented in two different Editions the project site and, last year, Palermo hosted for the second time the Award Ceremony. Palermo has been made available to the awarding of the XV Edition, thanks to the enthusiasm and pleasure that students and professors have shown in the past. The paper present the result of the Edition that has take place in Macau, Hong Kong, Milano and Palermo.

Our visual-haptic system is requested as soon as our arms interact with our external environment. There is a coupling between visual and haptic modalities, so that the central nervous system takes in account the reliability and accuracy of both modalities in order to weigh their influence in the visual-haptic integration. Thus there is a rebalancing of the weight of each modality in the context of the visual-haptic solicitation. Typically, psychophysical studies implement short and repeated tasks, with or without sensory conflict, to understand the mechanisms underlying the visual-haptic coupling.
