Abstract Aims: To evaluate the effectiveness of two independent methods in differentiating a large population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from wheat flours and sourdoughs and to correlate eventual differences/similarities among strains with their geographical origin and/or process parameters. Regeneration of the cell wall in protoplasts of Candida albicans. A cytochemical study using wheat germ agglutinin and concanavalin A.

To assess the dynamics of synthesis of the wall by regenerating Candida albicans protoplasts deposition of chitin and mannoproteins were investigated ultrastructurally using wheat germ agglutinin conjugated with either horseradish peroxidase or colloidal gold, and Concanavalin A coupled to ferritin respectively. Freshly prepared protoplasts lacked wheat germ agglutinin receptor sites but after 1-2 h of regeneration, they were detected. After 4-5 h of regeneration, the cell wall showed a discrete structure which was only labelled with wheat germ agglutinin in thin sections. The maximum heat load capacity of a DEMO First Wall (FW) of reasonable cost may impact the decision of the implementation of limiters in DEMO. An estimate of the engineering limit of the FW heat load capacity is an essential input for this decision. Food supplementation reveals constraints and adaptability of egg quality in the magpie Pica pica

Differences in the deposition of limited maternal resources to eggs can reflect the optimal allocation to manipulate offspring phenotype, or constraints caused by maternal condition. We examined multiple maternal substances transferred to eggs in the magpie Pica pica to test the hypothesis that certain substances represent constraint and some optimal allocation. Since the introduction of immediate implant placements, the buccal bony wall has been a major consideration for success due to its correlation with soft tissue contour and color. This report presents the stability of the buccal wall thickness of an immediately placed implant at the anterior maxilla over 10 years. Although the width of the buccal wall decreased at the 2-year post-op follow-up, it remained stable afterward according to cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT) scans. Self-polarization of light in optical fibers

The second performs the first experimental demonstration of the polarization domain walls which cancel the effects which degrade the intensity and spectral profile of a telecom signal during propagation. This phenomenon comes from non-linear coupling between the two orthogonal polarization modes of light propagating in a Kerr medium in normal dispersion regime, and causes a modulation in phase opposition of the two modes along the fiber. It is possible to lock two optical pulse trains complementary intensity so that the pulses do not suffer the effects of distortion occurring in the fiber in order to maintain the information to be transmitted. Cross-phase modulation effects in normal dispersive fibers and their applications

Isotope removal experiment in JET-ILW in view of T-removal after the 2nd DT campaign at JET

Abstract A sequence of fuel recovery methods was tested in JET, equipped with the ITER-like beryllium main chamber wall and tungsten divertor, to reduce the plasma deuterium concentration to less than 1% in preparation for operation with tritium. This was also a key activity with regard to refining the clean-up strategy to be implemented at the end of the 2nd DT campaign in JET (DTE2) and to assess the tools that are envisaged to mitigate the tritium inventory build-up in ITER.
