Christoff et al. [1] reject our family-resemblances framework for mind-wandering research [2] and instead seek to characterize mind-wandering with a necessary defining feature. As an example, they point to their ‘dynamic framework’ [3] that defines mind-wandering as thoughts that ‘proceed in a relatively free, unconstrained fashion.’ We outline three primary points of disagreement with their commentary and two points of clarification on the family-resemblances framework.

This study explored the influence of reading media and reading time-frame on readers' on-task attention, metacognitive calibration, and reading comprehension. One hundred and forty undergraduates were allocated to one of four experimental conditions varying on the reading medium (in print vs. on screen) and on the reading time-frame (free vs. pressured time). Readers' mindwandering while reading, prediction of performance on a comprehension test, and their text comprehension were measured. This metatheoretical paper investigates mind wandering from the perspective of philosophy of mind. It has two central claims. The first is that on a conceptual level, mind wandering can be fruitfully described as a specific form of mental autonomy loss. The second is that most of what we call “conscious thought” is better analysed as a subpersonal process that more often than not lacks crucial properties traditionally taken to be the hallmark of personal-level cognition, such as mental agency, explicit, consciously experienced goal-directedness, or availability for veto control. Given an operator K∈B(H), in this paper the authors introduce K-fusion frames as a generalization of fusion frames, defined as a sequence {Wi} of closed subspaces of the Hilbert space H. For K=1, this becomes a fusion frame. They prove some properties of K-fusion frames, based on considering the operator K and the frame operators. In the last section, for a unitary system U, the authors define a K-fusion frame generator in a way similar to the frame vectors for unitary systems. Some properties and characterization theorems are derived for operators in the generalized local commutant of U.

Artykuł prezentuje sylwetki dwóch fascynujących twórców dwudziestowiecznego polskiego dramatu, opisanych na przykładzie Grzebania1 i Błądzenia2 - spektakli Jerzego Jarockiego. Opowiada o tęsknotach, pragnieniach, fobiach Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza i Witolda Gombrowicza, z których pierwszy uporczywie dążył do formy, a drugi - od formy pragnął się wyzwolić. „Palę, piję i nic mi to nie szkodzi” - pisał Witkacy w przedmowie do swoich Narkotyków. Z kolei Gombrowicz ustawicznie pisał o sobie, czyniąc z siebie samego bohatera własnych utworów. Jako punkt wyjścia dla moich rozważań wybrałam odmienne sposoby poszukiwania i zaspokajania pragnień duchowych oraz cielesnych.
