Artykuł przedstawia metaanalizę w zakresie użyteczności narzędzi poznawczych w studiach nad bezpieczeństwem narodowym i międzynarodowym, jakimi są indeksy, rankingi i bazy danych. W artykule przedstawiono zarys działalności redakcji czasopisma „Społeczeństwo Otwarte”, wydawanego w latach 1990-1998. Jedynego w owym czasie w kraju, starającego się zagospodarować ten obszar znaczeń, który w polskiej szkole i edukacji realizowanej przez nauczycieli należało łączyć z demokracją, formacją obywatela i nauką o społeczeństwie. The dehumanization of whiteness in Maxine Hong Kingston’s The Woman Warrior (1976) inheres in the overarching ghosthood metaphor. While first generation Chinese American immigrants in The Woman Warrior attribute the power of transforming people into ghosts to the United States of America as a country, the questioning of a person’s humanity by calling them a “ghost” is not reserved for white people alone. Student engagement, truancy, and cynicism : a longitudinal study from primary school to upper secondary education

Truancy in upper secondary education is a widespread problem, which contributes significantly to school dropout risk. However, the underlying mechanisms of truancy have remained unstudied. This longitudinal study of 1853 Finnish students examined how initial levels and changes in student engagement from primary (Grade 6) to lower secondary school (Grades 7 and 9) predicted truancy in upper secondary education, and whether cynicism (losing interest in school) mediated the relationship between engagement and truancy. Do SETA Interventions Change Security Behavior? : A Literature Review

Information security education, training, and awareness (SETA) are approaches to changing end-users’ security behavior. Research into SETA has conducted interventions to study the effects of SETA on security behavior. However, we lack aggregated knowledge on ‘how do SETA interventions influence security behavior?’. This study reviews 21 empirical SETA intervention studies published across the top IS journals. The theoretical findings show that the research has extended Protection Motivation Theory by (1) enhancements to fear appeals; (2) drawing attention to relevance; (3) incorporating temporality; (4) and shifting from intentions to behavior.
