An exploratory analysis of website quality in the agrifood sector: The case of extra virgin olive oil

2018

Besides verifying the current consistency on the Internet of websites set up by Sicilian (Southern Italy) EVO oil firms, this paper aims to verify their e-service quality by evaluating which main quality features, as derived from the literature, they have. To process the data, descriptive statistics were used, which allowed detection of the presence/absence of the variables examined. The study found 280 websites with some qualitative gaps. Findings highlight that EVO oil firms do not exploit the potentialities of the web adequately. They often use the Internet as a communication and promotion tool, but only to a lesser degree for e-commerce. The results may be useful to both agrifood manage…

Electoral digital communication : a new stage in the commodification of politics?

2022

Online election campaigns and associated professional practices in digital and electoral communication have brought electoral work to new horizons where performance through web technologies and the exploitation of online data mark a new stage in the commodification of politics. Through digital communicators and specialists, campaign teams learn new methods and professional practices to manage an election campaign. The introduction of new digital tools for the administration of communication operations thus induces new processes whose object of this research is to be interested, on the basis of online supports and interviews, The European Parliament’s Committee on Employment, Social Affairs …

In viaggio con Stravinsky, gli ultimi anni di tournée e le "Choral-Variationen" sul canto natalizio Vom Himme hoch..." (1955-56)

2022

The text takes up in organic form the speeches held on June 3, 2021 as part of the conference "Stravinsky in/and Italy. Day dedicated to the memory of Igor Stravinsky in the fiftieth anniversary of his death (1971-2021)" and the subsequent round table. The first paragraphs have the character of a reconstruction of the life of Igor Stravinsky ‘as an old man’, dealing above all with the theme of the trips to Italy made by the Maestro together with his wife Vera de Bosset, the conductor Robert Craft. The second part of the text is about the "Choral-Variationen on the Christmas carol “Vom Himmel hoch...”, written in 1955-56 to be performed with the Canticum Sacrum in the St. Mark’s Basilica in …

The cumulative effect of multiple dimensions of lifestyle on risky drinking during the Covid-19 pandemic

2021

Lifestyle impacts morbidity and mortality worldwide. Herein, we evaluated the association of a multidimensional lifestyle measure and its domains (diet/nutrition, substance use, physical activity, social, stress management, sleep, environmental exposure) with risky drinking. Also, we analyzed the cumulative effect of unhealthy domains in the likelihood of presenting risky drinking. To reach these objectives, data from a web survey conducted in Brazil and Spain was analyzed. The main outcome was risky drinking assessed by the AUDIT-C. Lifestyle was measured using the Short Multidimensional Inventory Lifestyle Evaluation (SMILE). Fixed logistic models were used to evaluate associations betwee…

A software tool via web for the statistical data analysis; R-php

2007

The spread of Internet and the growing demand of services from the web users have changed and are still changing the way to organize the work or the study. Nowadays, the main part of information and many services are on the web and the software is going toward the same direction: in fact, the use of software implemented via web is ever-increasing, with a client-server logic that enables the “centralized” use of software installed on a server. In this paper we describe the Structure and the running of R-php, an environment for statistical analysis, freely accessible and attainable through the World Wide Web, based on the statistical environment R. R-php is based on two modules: a base module…

Accessibility of Norwegian Municipalities Websites: A Decision Support Tool

2011

Access to public websites is crucial to assure equal opportunities for all citizens to participate in society. Although, a range of studies to analyse the accessibility of websites have been carried out, we have not been able to find any study evaluating the effect of managerial decisions on the accessibility of websites. This paper presents a demonstrator simulation model, built using System Dynamics methodology. The model focuses on accessibility of Norwegian Municipal websites, and is intended to be used as a decision support tool, mainly for managers responsible for website development and maintenance. To build the underlying model we have used information collected from in-depth interv…

The impact of user’s availability on On-line Ego Networks: a Facebook analysis

2016

We have defined and implemented a Facebook application to log a Facebook dataset. We have studied and validated the structural properties of the whole dataset and of the Dunbar ego networks. We have analyzed the interactions of the users. The availability of the users in the Dunbar ego networks have been investigated. Our results reveal the presence of the temporal homophily property in the Dunbar ego networks. Online Social Networks (OSNs) are the most popular applications in todays Internet and they have changed the way people interact with each other. Understanding the structural properties of OSNs and, in particular, how users behave when they connect to OSNs is crucial for designing user-c…

Do graphical overviews facilitate or hinder comprehension in hypertext?

2009

Educational hypertexts usually include graphical overviews, conveying the structure of the text schematically with the aim of fostering comprehension. Despite the claims about their relevance, there is currently no consensus on the impact that hypertext overviews have on the reader's comprehension. In the present paper we have explored how hypertext overviews might affect comprehension with regard to (a) the time at which students read the overview and (b) the hypertext difficulty. The results from two eye-tracking studies revealed that reading a graphical overview at the beginning of the hypertext is related to an improvement in the participant's comprehension of quite difficult hypertexts…

The shape of eParticipation:Characterizing an emerging research area

2008

Author's version of an article published in Government Information Quarterly, 25 (2008), 400-428. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.giq.2007.04.007 The phenomenon of eParticipation is receiving increasing attention, demonstrated by recent technology implementations, experiments, government reports, and research programs. Understanding such an emerging field is a complex endeavor because there is no generally agreed upon definition of the field, no clear overview of the research disciplines or methods it draws upon, and because the boundaries of the field are undecided. Using conventional literature review techniques, we identify 131 scientific articles consid…
