General aggregation operators based on a fuzzy equivalence relation in the context of approximate systems

Our paper deals with special constructions of general aggregation operators, which are based on a fuzzy equivalence relation and provide upper and lower approximations of the pointwise extension of an ordinary aggregation operator. We consider properties of these approximations and explore their role in the context of extensional fuzzy sets with respect to the corresponding equivalence relation. We consider also upper and lower approximations of a t-norm extension of an ordinary aggregation operator. Finally, we describe an approximate system, considering the lattice of all general aggregation operators and the lattice of all fuzzy equivalence relations.
Specification on the interval

We study the consequences of discontinuities on the specification property for interval maps. After giving a necessary and sufficient condition for a piecewise monotonic, piecewise continuous map to have this property, we show that for a large and natural class of families of such maps (including the β \beta -transformations), the set of parameters for which the specification property holds, though dense, has zero Lebesgue measure. Thus, regarding the specification property, the general case is at the opposite of the continuous case solved by A.M. Blokh (Russian Math. Surveys 38 (1983), 133–134) (for which we give a proof).

In this paper, we prove some common fixed point theorems for two pairs of non-self weakly compatible mappings enjoying common limit range property, besides satisfying a generalized phi-weak contractive condition in symmetric spaces. We furnish some illustrative examples to highlight the realized improvements in our results over the corresponding relevant results of the existing literature. We extend our main result to four finite families of mappings in symmetric spaces using the notion of pairwise commuting mappings. Finally, we utilize our results to discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions of certain system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming.

Abstract In this paper we consider compound conditionals, Frechet-Hoeffding bounds and the probabilistic interpretation of Frank t-norms. By studying the solvability of suitable linear systems, we show under logical independence the sharpness of the Frechet-Hoeffding bounds for the prevision of conjunctions and disjunctions of n conditional events. In addition, we illustrate some details in the case of three conditional events. We study the set of all coherent prevision assessments on a family containing n conditional events and their conjunction, by verifying that it is convex. The importance of consecutive spells of poverty: a path-dependent index of longitudinal poverty

In this paper we propose a new index of individual poverty in the longitudinal perspective, taking into account the way poverty and non-poverty spells follow one another along individual life courses. The Poverty Persistence Index (PPI) is based on all the pairwise distances between the waves of poverty. The PPI is normalized and it assigns a higher degree of (longitudinal) poverty to people who experience poverty in consecutive, rather than separated, periods, for whom the distances from the poverty line are larger along time and moreover, when the worst years are consecutive and/or recent.
