Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is emerging as one of the effective platforms for offloading the resource- and latency-constrained computational services of modern mobile applications. Optimization of Linearized Belief Propagation for Distributed Detection

In this paper, we investigate distributed inference schemes, over binary-valued Markov random fields, which are realized by the belief propagation (BP) algorithm. We first show that a decision variable obtained by the BP algorithm in a network of distributed agents can be approximated by a linear fusion of all the local log-likelihood ratios. The proposed approach clarifies how the BP algorithm works, simplifies the statistical analysis of its behavior, and enables us to develop a performance optimization framework for the BP-based distributed inference systems. Modeling and Mitigating Errors in Belief Propagation for Distributed Detection

We study the behavior of the belief-propagation (BP) algorithm affected by erroneous data exchange in a wireless sensor network (WSN). The WSN conducts a distributed multidimensional hypothesis test over binary random variables. The joint statistical behavior of the sensor observations is modeled by a Markov random field whose parameters are used to build the BP messages exchanged between the sensing nodes. Työrauhaongelmat ovat viimeaikoina herättäneet runsaasti peruskoulua koskevaa keskustelua. Vuorovaikutus työrauhan takaamiseksi kouluissa näyttää nousevan keskeiseksi opettajan asiantuntijuudessa. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ymmärtää työrauhan rakentumista opettajan ja oppilaan välisessä vuorovaikutuksessa. Vulnérables, peu qualifiées et peu valorisées, souvent d’origine étrangère, la plupart des femmes de chambre sont aisément fidélisées du fait de leur faible employabilité sur le marché du travail. Mazurek jest przedstawicielem szkoły lubelskiej, który z pojęcia godności uczynił centralny temat swojej naukowej refleksji. Jest to dla niego wartość ontyczna człowieka, która staje się normą odniesienia w ocenie wszelkich działań człowieka i względem niego. Responsible Human Resource in Practice : Towards a Family-friendly Workplace

The purpose of this case study is twofold. First, a family-friendly development program in a Finnish health care organization is considered a good example of an attempt to develop an advanced workplace regarding work-family integration. The core idea of the program is that in a family-friendly workplace, human resource practices take employees’ varying circumstances into account. Second, the qualitative data gathered from the case are used to explore employees’ perceptions of family-friendliness, as well as the successes and pitfalls of adopting the development program to enhance work-family integration.
