Selective Synthesis of Partially Protected Nonsymmetric Biphenols by Reagent‐ and Metal‐Free Anodic Cross‐Coupling Reaction

The oxidative cross-coupling of aromatic substrates without the necessity of leaving groups or catalysts is described. The selective formation of partially protected nonsymmetric 2,2'-biphenols via electroorganic synthesis was accomplished with a high yield of isolated product. Since electric current is employed as the terminal oxidant, the reaction is reagent-free; no reagent waste is generated as only electrons are involved. The reaction is conducted in an undivided cell, and is suitable for scale-up and inherently safe. Comparison of the photoinductive properties of commercial, synthetic and soil-extracted humic substances

Abstract The photochemical behavior of a fulvic acid (FA) and several humic acids (HAs) were studied. These synthetic, commercial or soils-extracted humic substances were compared according to their abilities to sensitize the formation of singlet oxygen and to photoinduce the transformation of aromatic compounds such as 2,4,6-trimethylphenol (TMP) and 1,1-dimethyl-3-phenylurea (fenuron). Singlet oxygen was detected by ESR experiments, and quantum yields of singlet oxygen formation were measured by using 1,2-difuranyl-2-hydroxyethanone (furion) as a probe molecule. Modelling sediment delivery processes by a stream tube approach

Abstract The sediment delivery processes due to the travel along a hydraulic path having an uniform slope and to the concave shape of the path are modelled. In particular, using a power equation for modelling the slope profile and RUSLE with two different expressions of the topographic factors, a criterion to define the erosion active slope length, i.e. the slope length in which no deposition processes occur, is initially proposed.
