Management Structure Based Government Enterprise Architecture Framework Adaption in Situ
2017
Part 1: Regular Papers; International audience; The fragmentation of the public sector makes it difficult to manage strategically and architecturally as a whole. Enterprise Architecture (EA) is considered as an improvement to that. Architectural modeling and visualization of the general management strategy plans along with parallel database development in a local government forms the primary data in the longitudinal case study using Action Design Research Method. To find a proper organizational fit for the EA framework in public sector, we reflect on how the current state architectural descriptions got organized in situ in a deep corporate hierarchy, and what were the emerging management ne…
Maturity in Leaps and Bounds : Organisational Listening for Customer Engagement
2023
Much of organisational development occurs during times of crisis when answers and solutions are urgently needed. The research presented in this paper suggests that, during such times, what matters for organisational legitimacy is understanding stakeholders’ changing needs. This paper proposes that organisational listening become a core function for brands and organisations. Building on theories related to organisational listening, social media and stakeholder engagement in digital marketing, this article argues for incorporating mature online listening into the customer engagement in social media (CESM) framework introduced by Santini et al. (2020). In the practise of organisational listeni…

Influencing factors on growth modes change : systematic literature review and future research agenda
2021
Objectives. Inevitable condition of entrepreneurship, firm growth (Gundry & Welsch, 2001), can be understood better if more attention is paid to how companies grow instead of how much they grow (McKelvie & Wiklund, 2010). Research about small firm growth is fragmented. One reason is that the phenomenon has been treated over-simplistically by lacking separation among growth modes (Davidsson & Wiklund, 2000; Gilbert et al., 2006a; Wiklund et al., 2009) and subsequently missing understanding why firms growth and how (Benning & Flatten, 2020; Geuvers, 2016). This led to a predisposition of SMEs growing mainly organically, when in fact empirical studies have shown contradictions (Alemayehu & Van…
Institutionalization of Strategy and Management Accounting Change in a Cooperative Bank
2019
In this longitudinal case study, a cooperative bank’s strategy, related performance management changes, institutionalization processes, and change drivers are studied. Old institutional economics is used in explaining how organizational routines and rules change and become taken for granted. However, there are several internal and external drivers of change in the banking sector, including organizational culture and values, EU regulation, digitalization as well as communicational gaps and power relations among organizational levels affecting the success of the change process. Results indicate that in the case bank, operating in a highly institutionalized and regulated environment, not many …
Strategy and business history rejoined : How and why strategic management concepts took over business history
2022
Scholars at the intersection of business history and strategic management have argued for the relevance and importance of historical methods in the study of strategic management of organizations. We flip this argument and ask about the role of strategic management concepts in the study of business history. We analyze volumes of Business History and Business History Review and a representative sample of business history books using a comprehensive set of keywords, each related to a specific sub-discourse in strategic management. Our results show that as scientific communities, business history and strategic management have become increasingly similar in their conceptual overlap. This study c…
Systemic Management of Architectural Decisions in Enterprise Architecture Planning. Four Dimensions and Three Abstraction Levels
2006
This paper presents a process model for the management of architectural decisions in enterprise architecture planning. First, decisions are made at the enterprise level, with strategic business considerations on the enterprise information, systems and technology strategy and governance issues. The next step is to define the domains, to then go on with domain architecture decisions. At the systems level, the enterprise and domain architecture decisions are collected and converted into architecture descriptions accurate in precision, form and detail to be given as input to the information systems development process, following the architectural planning. The model is derived from previous wor…
Introduction to software product lines : Engineering, service, and management minitrack
2013
Software has become the key asset for competitive products and services in all industries. Thus, competitiveness in software development, maintenance, and related services has become a concern for organizations. Competitiveness can be increased through (1) internal strategies such as the strategic creation and reuse of software assets and (2) external strategies such as outsourcing software development, maintenance, and/or services from third party service providers and acquiring off-the-shelf components from providers and open source communities. A viable third strategy is to enact both strategies in parallel. This minitrack focuses on the first and third strategy. The minitrack accepted f…
