Selective formation of a unique diphosphonium-diphosphine from a tetraphosphine double protonation induced by zirconium salts
2008
A mixed ferrocenyl diphosphonium-diphosphine cation, associated with two [ZrCl(5).thf](-) anions, is obtained from a ferrocenyl tetraphosphine, as a unique didentate ionic metalloligand in a perfectly selective reaction induced by ZrCl(4) in THF.

Ultrasensitive and highly specific detection of iodine ions using zirconium (IV)-enhanced oxidation
2022
Nuclear energy has significantly promoted the development of human society. However, nuclear pollution caused by nuclear accidents can lead to significant hazards to the environment and human health. As a major radioactive product, radioactive iodine (mainly existing as I−) detection has attracted significant attentions. In this study, zirconium(IV) is used to enhance the oxidation of environmental I− to form I2. Subsequently, the generated I2 oxidizes the chemical chromogenic substrate 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine, which is used for I− detection and realizes an ultralow limit of detection (LoD) of 0.176 nM. The LoD of our method, to the best of our knowledge, is the lowest among those of…
A Study of Osmosis Rate Through Several Proton Conducting Polymer Composite Membranes
2021
Carbon dioxide is typically considered to be a byproduct of various industrial processes that should not be released into the environment due to its nature as a harmful greenhouse gas. One of the more promising ways to dispose of it in an economical and environmentally friendly way is by using it as a raw material in electrochemical synthesis reactors. An important part of such reactors is an ion exchange membrane. In this study the influence of ZrO2 content in SPEEK – ZrO2 composite membranes on rate of osmosis trough them was investigated, with the goal of evaluating ZrO2 as an additive for making ion exchange membranes with fine-tuned osmotic permeability.
Evaluation of a novel monoclonal antibody against tumor-associated MUC1 for diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer
2019
There is still a great unmet medical need concerning diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer which could be addressed by utilizing specific molecular targets. Tumor-associated MUC1 is expressed on over 90 % of all breast cancer entities and differs strongly from its physiological form on epithelial cells, therefore presenting a unique target for breast cancer diagnosis and antibody-mediated immune therapy. Utilizing an anti-tumor vaccine based on a synthetically prepared glycopeptide, we generated a monoclonal antibody (mAb) GGSK-1/30, selectively recognizing human tumor-associated MUC1. This antibody targets exclusively tumor-associated MUC1 in the absence of any binding to MUC1 on health…

DFT Prediction of Enhanced Reducibility of Monoclinic Zirconia upon Rhodium Deposition.
2018
Oxides are an important class of materials and are widely used, for example, as supports in heterogeneous catalysis. In a number of industrial catalytic processes, oxide supports actively participate in chemical transformations by releasing lattice oxygen anions. While this is intuitively understood for reducible oxides, the reducibility of irreducible oxides may be modified via nanoengineering or upon inclusion of foreign species. Our calculations predict that the ability of irreducible monoclinic zirconia to release oxygen improves substantially upon deposition of rhodium. Through a comprehensive screening of Rh/ZrO2 with different size of the rhodium species, we find that a Rh adatom and…
Paramagnetic Defects and Thermoluminescence in Irradiated Nanostructured Monoclinic Zirconium Dioxide
2022
The work was carried out under the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan AP09260057, “Luminescence and radiation resistance of synthesized under different conditions micro- and nanostructured compacts and ceramics based on ZrO2”. The research was partly (A.I.P.) performed at the Center of Excellence of the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia, supported through European Union Horizon 2020 Framework Programme H2020-WIDESPREAD-01-2016-2017-TeamingPhase2, under grant agreement No. 739508, project CAMART2.
Periodontal Behavior Around Teeth Prepared with Finishing Line for Restoration with Fixed Prostheses. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
2020
Background: The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to analyze the periodontal behavior around teeth prepared with horizontal finishing crowns supporting fixed metal-ceramic and zirconia full coverage crowns and fixed partial dentures (FDPs). Materials and methods: An electronic search was conducted to locate relevant clinical trials in four databases: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Scopus. A manual search was made in the reference sections of the articles identified for any additional articles. No restrictions were applied regarding year of publication or language. The following variables were considered in quantitative and qualitative analysis: probing pocket depth (P…
