In his writings, the Old-Polish preacher, Father Fabian Birkowski, many a time made references to reality of war, with which he was familiar due to his services as the camp chaplain. Thus, military motifs can be found in his sermons that were delivered on different occasions. He taught the art of good fighting by, among others, recalling the glorious memory of sons of the Crown, both members of clergy and laity, recollecting historic events from the history of the nation, propagating the cult of saints and preaching the Gospel on particular Sundays of the liturgical year, and all these issues are discussed in this paper. W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia dotyczące istoty określania potęgi państwa i jej kluczowych komponentów. Wskazano szczegółowe wskaźniki, mieszczące się w ramach poszczególnych wymiarów potęgi państwa. Opisano rozwój wskaźnika wolności gospodarczej i demokracji w państwach Grupy Wyszehradzkiej, na przestrzeni ostatniej dekady. Wyniki analizy porównawczej zobrazowano w formie graficznej.
ZnO/ZnS heterostructures for hydrogen production by photoelectrochemical water splitting

This work studies the photoelectrochemical behavior of novel ZnO/ZnS heterostructures obtained by means of anodization in water and glycerol/water/NH4F electrolytes with different Na2S additions under controlled hydrodynamic conditions. For this purpose different techniques such as Field Emission Scanning Electronic Microscopy (FE-SEM) with EDX, Raman spectroscopy and photoelectrochemical water splitting tests under standard AM 1.5 conditions have been carried out. Negatywne aspekty indywidualizmu w kulturze mogą być równoważone poprzez działalność placówek kultury w najbliższym miejscu zamieszkania. W tekście ukazana jest działalność kulturalna i animacyjna w odbiorze społecznym w niedużej gminie miejsko-wiejskiej. Effect of thermal annealing on the luminescence of defective ZnO nanoparticles synthesized by pulsed laser ablation in water

This work concerns ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), with sizes of tens of nm, produced by ablation with a pulsed Nd:YAG laser of a Zn plate in H2O. TEM images evidence the formation of nanoparticles with sizes of tens of nm. Moreover, HRTEM images and Raman spectra show that the distance between the crystalline planes and the vibrational modes are consistent with ZnO nanocrystal in wurtzite structure. Their optical properties are characterized by two emission bands both excited above the energy gap (3.4 eV): the first at 3.3 eV is associated with excitons recombination, the second at 2.2 eV is proposed to originate from a singly ionized oxygen vacancy. Enhanced optical properties of Cd–Mg-co-doped ZnO nanoparticles induced by low crystal structure distortion

Abstract The growth of CdxMg0.125-xZn0.875O nanoparticles with yellow-orange luminescence is achieved up to 2.5 at. % Cd via a modified sol–gel process. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed that all the nanoparticles have the hexagonal wurtzite structure. It is found that Cd doping has a considerable effect on the crystal size, microstrain, band gap, and photoluminescence of the Mg0·125Zn0·875O structure, originating from a preferred crystallographic orientation along the (101) plane of the wurtzite structure. The shift and broadening of the E2(high) mode observed in the Raman spectra due to growth-induced strain corroborates the small distortion observed in the X-ray diffraction data. The …

News about the death of Piotr Ogrodzki came so suddenly that it left us numb. A good and unique person passed away – a lawyer, an expert on historical monuments, a theoretician on securing works of art, a sensitive soul. His loss is irreparable. Having known Piotr for years as a modest person shying from acclaim I am aware that he would not have wanted to become the topic of written reminiscences. On the other hand, it is our duty to express gratitude to men of merit and pay homage in return for all that they did for us. In this way, we demonstrate our respect, admiration and appreciation.
