Synthesis and characterization of the acetazolamide complexes of Co(II) and Zn(II)

1987

Abstract The preparation and characterization of the complexes of Acetazolamide (Acm) with Co(II) and Zn(II) are described. The complexes are of the type M(Acm) 2 (NH 3 ) 2 . Monodentate or bidentate behaviour of Acm from the electronic properties and the IR spectral data is discussed. The probable structures of the complexes are proposed.

Copper complexes modelling the interaction between benzolamide and Cu-substituted carbonic anhydrase. Crystal structure of Cu(bz)(NH3)4 complex

1998

New copper benzolamide (H 2 bz, 5-phenylsulfonamide-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-sulfonamide) complexes with ammonia, diethylentriamine (dien) and dipropylentriamine (dipn) have been prepared. The complex [Cu(bz)(NH 3 ) 4 ] crystallises in the monoclinic space group P 2 1 / n with a = 7.621(3), b = 19.91(5), c = 11.291(3) A, β = 93.17(4)° and Z = 4. The Cu(II) is five-coordinated with an almost regular square pyramidal geometry. The dideprotonated sulfonamide behaves as monodentate ligand interacting with the metal ion through the N atom of the unsubstituted sulfonamide group. In the EPR spectrum, exchange coupling between Cu(II) polyhedra of different orientations in the unit cell is observed. The …

Solvent-Free Synthesis of a Pillared Three-Dimensional Coordination Polymer with Magnetic Ordering

2015

A new magnetic coordination polymer, [Fe(bipy)(im)2] (bipy = 4,4-bipyridine and im = imidazole), has been synthesized in a solvent-free reaction. Structural analysis reveals a pillared 3D coordination polymer composed by neutral layers, formed by iron(II) and imidazolate linkers, interconnected by bipy ligands which serve as pillars. Magnetic measurements show that the material magnetically orders at low temperatures (Tc = 14.5 K) as a weak ferromagnet, likely due to a spin canting.

Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors

1999

Reaction of 20 aromatic/heterocyclic sulfonamides containing a free amino, imino, hydrazino or hydroxyl group, with 8-quinoline-sulfonyl chloride afforded a series of water-soluble (as hydrochloride or triflate salts) compounds. The new derivatives were assayed as inhibitors of the zinc enzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA), and more precisely of three of its isozymes, CA I, II (cytosolic forms) and IV (membrane-bound form), involved in important physiological processes. Efficient inhibition was observed against all three isozymes, but especially against CA II (in nanomolar range), which is the isozyme known to play a critical role in aqueous humor secretion within the ciliary processes of the eye…

Comparison of the interaction of cobalt bovine carbonic anhydrase II with acetazolamide and methazolamide and the reaction of apoenzyme with cobalt(I…

2003

The metalloenzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA) is an attractive choice for a research-based bioinorganic laboratory course. In this project the interaction of cobalt bovine carbonic anhydrase II (CoBCAII) with acetazolamide and methazolamide and the reaction of apoenzyme with cobalt(II) complexes of acetazolamide and methazolamide is studied by UV-visible spectroscopy. Prior to this spectroscopic study students are given native BCAII, and they prepare apoBCAII and CoBCAII. A major aim is to provide experience in handling metalloproteins and in the study of metal complexes-protein interactions.

Le théâtre des vanités mondaines : le Bois de Boulogne dans les chroniques zoliennes

2018

Emile Zolas journalistic work deals with every aspect of Parisian reality of his time, from “serious” political and social subjects to slight or frivolous ones. The existence of the Parisian upper classes under the reign of Napoleon III is considered by the author as trivial, based on appearances and an ostentatious display of one s richness. Actually, vanity is the main default of the Parisian high society of the Second Empire, and showing off is their new religion. The everyday paradę of wealthy and fashionable people takes place at the Bois of Boulogne, freshly reshaped into an English landscape park. The paper analyzes some elements of this “vanity paradę” in relation to Zola s hostile …

Une palette intentionnelle et significative : le symbolisme des couleurs dans quelques romans zoliens

2018

In naturalist novels, aiming to depict the reality as faithfully as possible, colours are particularly important, and need to be carefully selected. An attentive reader of Zola’s Rougon-Macquart series might notice a very special use of colours that are often charged with an important symbolic value: being not only an ornament or a detail, they frequently influence and/or express the characters’ features. The proposed classification shows some most relevant examples of Zola’s conception of colours in selected parts of the series.

2020

Artykuł analizuje dwie formy, jakie przybiera motyw drzewa w cyklu powieściowym Émile’a Zoli Rougon-Macquartowie.
