POST-OPERATIVE CHANGES IN FACTOR XIII and FIBRCNETITN

Wound healing processes after surgery are not restricted to certain areas tut affect the vhole body; the ooagulaticn systan in particular is involved. We studied Factor XIII and fibrcnectin in the blood plasma of 16 patients before surgery, after surgery and cn the 1st, 3rd and 7th days after surgery; fibrcnectin was determined using IC-Partigen iimunodiffusicn and Factor XIII by Behringwerke rapid test. In 11 patients normal wound healing was observed (group A), while in 5 patients explications oocured (group B). Factor XIII: normal group (A): fall in concentration oenpared with the precpera-tive value up to the 7th day after surgery; group with explications (B): fall in concentration more…

POST-OPERATTVE CHANGES IN PROIEINASE INHIBITORS IN NORMAL AND IMPAIRED WOUND HEALING

Tissue trauma after surgery activates blood coagulation. This results in a change and in the consumption of important inhibitors. We investigated the oonoentraticn of antithrorfoin III (AT III), ∝ 1-antitrypsin (∝l-AT), ∝ 2- macrogloublin (∝ 2-M) and Cl-inactivator (Cl-INH) in the blood plasma by means ofradial iirmunodiffusicn in 16 patients before surgery, after surgery and cn the 1st, 3rd and 7th days after surgery. In 11 patients normal wound healing wasobserved (group A), while in 5 patients amplicationsoccurred (group B). AT III: Fall in concentration upto the 3rd day after surgery, then a rise in concentration. In the patients with impaired wound healing there was a particularly marke…

Amisulpride versus flupentixol in schizophrenia with predominantly positive symptomatology - a double-blind controlled study comparing a selective D 2 -like antagonist to a mixed D 1 -/D 2 -like antagonist

The benzamide amisulpride (ASP) is a selective D2-like dopamine antagonist, while flupentixol (FPX), a thioxanthene, blocks D2-like, D1-like and 5-HT2 receptors. To evaluate efficacy and safety of ASP and to investigate the importance of an additional D1-like antagonism for antipsychotic effects and extrapyramidal tolerability, a randomized double-blind multi-center study versus FPX as reference drug was performed for 6 weeks in 132 patients suffering from acute schizophrenia (DSM-III-R) with predominant positive symptomatology. Doses were initially fixed (ASP: 1000 mg/day; FPX: 25 mg/day) but could be reduced by 40% in case of side effects (mean daily doses: ASP: 956 mg; FPX: 22.6 mg). Int…
