Generalized curvature and the equations of D=11 supergravity

It is known that, for zero fermionic sector, the bosonic equations of Cremmer-Julia-Scherk eleven-dimensional supergravity can be collected in a compact expression which is a condition on the curvature of the generalized connection. Here we peresent the equation which collects all the bosonic equations of D=11 supergravity when the gravitino is nonvanishing.

Maxwell symmetries and some applications

The Maxwell algebra is the result of enlarging the Poincar\'{e} algebra by six additional tensorial Abelian generators that make the fourmomenta non-commutative. We present a local gauge theory based on the Maxwell algebra with vierbein, spin connection and six additional geometric Abelian gauge fields. We apply this geometric framework to the construction of Maxwell gravity, which is described by the Einstein action plus a generalized cosmological term. We mention a Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmological approximation to the Maxwell gravity field equations, with two scalar fields obtained from the additional gauge fields. Finally, we outline further developments of the Maxwell symmetries f…

On the absence of BPS preonic solutions in IIA and IIB supergravities

We consider the present absence of 31 out of 32 supersymmetric solutions in supergravity i.e., of solutions describing BPS preons. A recent result indicates that (bosonic) BPS preonic solutions do not exist in type IIB supergravity. We reconsider this analysis by using the G-frame method, extend it to the IIA supergravity case, and show that there are no (bosonic) preonic solutions for type IIA either. For the classical D=11 supergravity no conclusion can be drawn yet, although the negative IIA results permit establishing the conditions that preonic solutions would have to satisfy. For supergravities with `stringy' corrections, the existence of BPS preonic solutions remains fully open.

Contractions of Filippov algebras

We introduce in this paper the contractions $\mathfrak{G}_c$ of $n$-Lie (or Filippov) algebras $\mathfrak{G}$ and show that they have a semidirect structure as their $n=2$ Lie algebra counterparts. As an example, we compute the non-trivial contractions of the simple $A_{n+1}$ Filippov algebras. By using the \.In\"on\"u-Wigner and the generalized Weimar-Woods contractions of ordinary Lie algebras, we compare (in the $\mathfrak{G}=A_{n+1}$ simple case) the Lie algebras Lie$\,\mathfrak{G}_c$ (the Lie algebra of inner endomorphisms of $\mathfrak{G}_c$) with certain contractions $(\mathrm{Lie}\,\mathfrak{G})_{IW}$ and $(\mathrm{Lie}\,\mathfrak{G})_{W-W}$ of the Lie algebra Lie$\,\mathfrak{G}$ as…

Supersymmetric particle model with additional bosonic coordinates

A new supersymmetric particle model in enlarged superspace with additional bosonic coordinateszij,\(\bar z_{ij} \) (zij=−zji;i=1...N, N even) canonically conjugated to central charges is quantized. The superwave functions which are obtained through first quantization are the free superfields on the enlarged superspace\((x^\mu , \theta _{\alpha i} , \bar \theta _i^{\dot \alpha } , z_{ij} , \bar z_{ij} )\). Two particular cases (N=2 with one additional complex bosonic coordinate andN=8 with seven additional real coordinates) are considered in more detail.

Generalized cosmological term from Maxwell symmetries

By gauging the Maxwell spacetime algebra the standard geometric framework of Einstein gravity with cosmological constant term is extended by adding six fourvector fields A_\mu^{ab}(x) associated with the six abelian tensorial charges in the Maxwell algebra. In the simplest Maxwell extension of Einstein gravity this leads to a generalized cosmological term that includes a contribution from these vector fields. We also consider going beyond the basic gravitational model by means of bilinear actions for the new Abelian gauge fields. Finally, an analogy with the supersymmetric generalization of gravity is indicated. In an Appendix, we propose an equivalent description of the model in terms of a…

Group Foundations of Quantum and Classical Dynamics : Towards a Globalization and Classification of Some of Their Structures

This paper is devoted to a constructiveand critical analysis of the structure of certain dynamical systems from a group manifold point of view recently developed. This approach is especially suitable for discussing the structure of the quantum theory, the classical limit, the Hamilton-Jacobi theory and other problems such as the definition and globalization of the Poincare-Cartan form which appears in the variational approach to higher order dynamical systems. At the same time, i t opens a way for the classification of all hamiltonian and lagrangian systems associated with suitably defined dynamical groups. Both classical and quantum dynamics are discussed, and examples of all the different…
